Mrazek just hasn’t got the job done. Tough to make the playoffs when all the teams around you are getting at least reliable goaltending. - landros 2
Like Neuvirth, he's a streaky goalie. He's just on the wrong side of streaky right now. |

[quote=PLindbergh31]Lost every game to the Penguins this year. Cool.
The Penguins are pretty bad defensively. Maybe worse than the Flyers are.
Really is simple. The Penguins best players are better than the Flyers best players. And Murray is better than anyone the Flyers have in goal and pens have the better coach.

I know they have been iffy the last while but the goalies for the most part are doing nothing to help them win most nights. Mrazek anyway.
I want Lyon from here. - flyer_nutter
I would ride Lyon too. Mrazek has been very disappointing. Mason levels of feast or famine.
Simmonds is running out of games to sort out his poop. Game after game of boneheaded plays with the puck does not inspire confidence. |

Point ties us with Columbus. We didn't expect to win. Even if Florida wins all 3 games their behind us they wouldn't pass us. Still 1 point up on jersey if they win the next one. It's atleast something - Tfaehner
florida would pass us they would have more row unless they win all their games via shootout |

I don't with the way they've been playing. - feelingkettle
I've been saying for two days that there is no way we win this game unless a goalie steals it. If we get a point it's massive and we did. I really want them to get into the playoffs so that point is massive |

Again the GM has saddled this team with average to below average goaltending. If Hart is the savior this rebuild will have lasted 7 years. |

He’s been crap since his first couple of starts, his positioning is terrible. - BiggE
You're right.
With this said, Lyon's awkward save approach was bound to catch up with him. Lyon looks good against the Canes, Wings and Rangers, so what? I'm not comfortable with either of our options right now.
The real problem is the looks the team is giving away to the net. Goal 4 was bad. OK. How did we reach that point? Sean Couturier might as well moved out of the way.
The team defense has been terrible. Bad coverage. Bad awareness. It's hard for me to fault goaltending for every game up to this point. |

The young guys are doing their share, it s good to see. The vets like Simmonds and Gudas have to play better. I m not discouraged by today, we all know the deficiencies on the roster, the kids you want to see them improving in an NHL playoff drive, mission accomplished. I thought Lindblom was very good today on both ends. |

Elliot -- Hurt
Neuvirth -- Hurt (perennially)
Stolarz -- Hurt for 95% of AHL year
Mrazek -- Hurts the eyes
Lyons -- Official goalie for the Flyers' stretch drive.
Why, god? Why? What have we done to deserve this fate? |

Thing is, Elliot kind of played above his career norm for stretches this year. He isn't a young buck either who is used to playing a poopload of games.
Biron, Niity, Leighton, Boucher, Bryz, Neuvirth and Mrazek. Outside of some longer stability in Mason this poop needs to end. Its the most important position. |

I’m not disappointed if they get that scenario. I think they can beat the Caps. In fact, I’m confident they can.
And if they do and have momentum anything can happen. But it’s going to be tough to get there. The other teams are not really helping on the out of town scoreboard on most nights. |

Very true. Have to hope one of them gets hot. I just have zero faith in Mrazek - inconsistency has been his NHL career. Lyon at least is an unknown. |

I expect it will be Neuvy and Mrazek until Elliott returns. I dont expect Lyon the rest of the way until another injury. |

I can't justify handing the ball to Lyon unless you just want to get him some experience. He's had stretches but he hasn't been solid enough.

Hart is still a ways away. Team has no better option than Elliott for a good two years probably. - hereticpride
I don’t think anyone can reliably say how far away Hart is...it could be next year...it could be in two...it might be three. Too bad Mrazek has played this poorly, he really had the chance to take over the reins. Elliot is getting up there in age and it’s not a good sign when older goalies go under the knife. Nuevy simply can’t be relied on.
Hopefully the Flyers address the back up goalie position this summer if Elliot is indeed healthy enough to play 50 or so games next year....maybe Hart is the back up, but most likely will be in the A. The Flyers will need to address it for sure if the most likely thing happens. |

Yeah. That's what I'd go with. Mrazek is playing himself out of a job here for sure. Hexy will prob walk away from him this summer. |
