It's PTSD. People have had their hopes dashed so many times in the past by the Leafs that they are afraid to be positive, lest they be let down again.

Although there are also a few wanna be Nostradamus's out there that discovered by always predicting the worst outcome they could imagine, they usually ended up correct in the past, so they still do it now, expecting to once again look smarter than the rest of us. I think you can guess who a few of these people might be.

On last nights broadcast they posted records since jan24 or something like that and Nashville was 1st, leafs were 2nd....... And then the commentators seemed shocked that the leafs were beating the preds.

He was just telling a story about how jfj told him he was sitting out this game because he got a new guy coming in a Russian. He couldn't even recall his name... Couldn't pronounce suglobov. Called him a donkey. Said he saw him in practise and thought he was next federov. Unreal talent. Got into the game and couldn't put it together.

So the strategy is to pretend that you can't beat Boston, even though you believe you can. This appeases the Hockey God's because you appear to not be overconfident when in fact you are.

Or you're actually afraid of Boston but are using the defeatist attitude to pretend that you really do think you can beat Boston but are sarcastic about it by claiming it is impossible to beat them.

Or you hate it when any media compliments other teams and your Leafs fan insecurity rears it's ugly head because this is a part of the very fabric of being a Leafs fan stemming from years of heartbreak and failure.

Or maybe I'm completely wrong on everything I just said.

I'm actually cheering for you guys in the playoffs. It's not like my team is playing. I'm quite aware of the many decades of pain and suffering Leaf fans have had to endure. Your fanbase deserves some success.

Yes! ...my wife was preggers with our third. ..had about 12to20 people that night watching. .actually the whole playoffs at our place . .we kept telling her..don't be going into labor ..cause you'll be walking to the hospital! ..I don't think anyone would of even called a cab?
