Why were they so awful?
I’m seriously interested
Imo, if you think Brodie has oodles of value right now, I’d say ur mistaken. He’s a quality top 4 option with a solid contract closing in on 30 and coming off a poor season.
And if ur getting a Top ten pick
For that, ur taking salary back.
Did I way underestimate kylingtons value? Pretty good numbers in the A But not like totally out of this world. While manthas a solid prospect as well
Maybe the Hamilton one was off tho?
But as per my previous post, no deal can be made without salary going the other way. And since sekera is a solid top 4 when healthy, and bear is a quality prospect (won the chl dman of the year and is having a solid rookie season in the A) I thought it might have some merit. A top ten, a top 4 guy and pretty close to a bluechip prospect.
Admittedly, seks age and injury this year might’ve really hurt his value that I didn’t take into account ..? |

Moving Dougie Hamilton for anything less than 2 first rounders, and a prospect would be ridiculous IMO. We were lucky to get him in the first place, so why give him away to our rivals for a top 10 pick in a weaker draft, and a few spare parts?
As for Brodie, I have always been on the fence with that guy. He looks great when he's on, and pretty bad when not. I just wouldn't give up on him yet. Also, I am not shelling out Oliver Kylington as a throw in. For what? Kris Russel? Not a chance. If you were offering up Anthony Mantha then I'd talk to you...but Ryan Mantha? Who the hell is that guy?

I haven’t heard this draft is weak at all. Where did u hear that? I’ve read anything inside the top 7 is great.
And I don’t think bear or sekera are spare parts by any stretch.
And U got him for later picks, not a top ten.
I’m not saying he’s not worth two firsts, just that I guess I assumed since u guys aren’t rebuilding, u wouldnt JUST want picks but a guy that can step in and contribute immediately as well as futures (which bear and a top ten certainly are. Good ones )
But fair enough if I underestimated him.
As far as the other one, kylingtons a solid prospect no doubt, but so is mantha. No stud, but some in the organization seem to be rather stoked on him. And again, the loss in value on ur side for those 2 was the point.
Maybe the disconnect here is u think ur gonna deal Brodie for all gravy. That might be the case if it’s a later pick in the bottom half of the first or beyond. But a top ten or better ? No |

I’d assume Hamilton would be the piece we’d desire the most, but he’d prob cost too much.
Brodie and kylington
1st, Kris russel, mantha
Hamilton and 3rd
1st, sekera, bear - HB77
Sek has an NMC, no? Russell definitely does. That 1st might be Dahlin or Tkachuk.. |

Yeah- both do.
FYI - both just limited ones next summer.
But yeah, under the assumption they’ve waived
Just spitballing either way |

It's called an opinion dips**t lets hear yours? - DinoRondelly
Ok, sure.
Why would we fire Brian Burke? Treliving is the GM and makes all the personnel delegation decisions for the most part. People who want Burke fired just hate the guy so that's why they want him gone. No real rationality behind that thought.
Why would we fire Brad Treliving? Because of the Brouwer signing? Sure it wasn't one of his best by far. Hamonic was brought in for what he is, a defensive defenceman with character and grit. People are just mad because it wasn't lottery protected. Hindsight is 20/20. He's made some excellent contract extensions setting our team up for the future, and is top 5 percentile in GM's that work the phone to make the club better. It would be folly to fire him based on a few errors in comparison to what good he has done for the club so far.
As far as GG is concerned, I agree the general consensus is to fire him and get a new coach. People have this wet dream like that's going to solve our problems and a new coach will bring us into the playoffs next year. A new coaching staff with new systems is going to take half a season to get used to, meaning chances are good that we don't make the playoffs next year because of it. Irrational people will be calling for the new coaches head too if we don't make the playoffs next year as well. Seems like rearranging the deck chairs to me. |

Legit question, if the Flames were looking to trade for a 1st rd pick..
Would a deal with the Leafs work?
Something like Dougie Hamilton, for a 2018 1st rd pick, Connor Carrick and Jeremy Bracco work?

It’s the classic HB special
“my draft pick + spare parts for your good player”
*other team’s fan says no because the spare parts aren’t that exciting*
This is an excellent comment.
*guy who made the original offer turns into a used car salesmen and tells you how valuable the spare parts he offers in every trade are*
*argument over each team’s history and which city is better to live in*
End with:

Ummm.
That is very very strange to say after purposefully trading out of the first round... And recently said they were confident they were making the playoffs...
Very very strange strategy.
Basically "opps we messed up big time, but are going to spend more assets to fix our mistake". |

Agreed. .Hamilton stays ...tho.. IF..he was to be traded.. ..it would be a haul ..a top 2to3 pick+..and young player. .and possibly another piece? (All depends?). .to play for the now!...if Calgary decides to trade for a 1st in the later rounds . .then it might be for a prospect that's at least a little more developed? ..any of their other 4 not named gio or hamy. . would command a 1st.. 15th to 31st +..IMHO. .but I'm hoping that they go on a run and make the playoffs ..and a big upset in the first round! ..good luck with the rest of the way |
