Legit question, if the Flames were looking to trade for a 1st rd pick..

Would a deal with the Leafs work?

Something like Dougie Hamilton, for a 2018 1st rd pick, Connor Carrick and Jeremy Bracco work?

Do you need prospects, or players that can help out right away?

Yes. Let's fire the president of hockey ops, the GM and the whole coaching staff. You really are clueless on how businesses run sometimes aren't you Dino

Think you need to add there. Carrick is a marginal #7 dman. Bracco is undersized and completely unproven at the NHL level. For Hamilton (which they'd be idiots to give up), you're adding at least 2 firsts or shipping out a top six with term.

I mean...it's not the worst idea. The leafs basically did that and I'm sure just about any Oilers fan would approve of that plan

I think more would need to be added, but since I don't follow the Flames, I'm not sure what their team needs are;

Maybe Calvin Pickard or Garrett Sparks, since Mike Smith is old af

Well Hamilton is a top d man so think of what it would take to get someone like Seth Jones. You're giving up a lot, could see a sign and trade of JVR, but I'd hate to see him go.

I'd love for them to try getting Brodie out of there, but Calgary would have to be out of their minds to sell low on him.

I doubt they want to trade Dougie for a late 1st and some spare parts

It’s the classic HB special

“my draft pick + spare parts for your good player”

*other team’s fan says no because the spare parts aren’t that exciting*

*guy who made the original offer turns into a used car salesmen and tells you how valuable the spare parts he offers in every trade are*

*argument over each team’s history and which city is better to live in*

End with:

“Fine, I didn’t really want that good player anyway!”

For the life of me I can't figure that out either. That's like the Iginla return for a D that's a Number 1, Young, and on a friendly contract.

Dougie for Blake Comeau UFA Rights, Carl Soderberg, and Ottawas 3rd round pick, turns into a 2nd if Comeau resign

Deal?

Dougie is incredibly undervalued by the league (he's leading in D-goals atm and has top 5 defensive possession stats). Conversation begins at Marner or Nylander and no less.

They'd in all fairness be incredibly dumb to trade Dougie in the first place if it comes to that though.

Your list of players that will fetch a first rounder is probably 3 and likely 4 too long. First round picks always cost more when you're trying to add them than willing to move them. The people of Quebec City deserve a more astute GM making these decisions with their future team.

I’d assume Hamilton would be the piece we’d desire the most, but he’d prob cost too much.

Brodie and kylington

1st, Kris russel, mantha

Hamilton and 3rd

1st, sekera, bear

Lol

He’s not added as a plus, He clearly has negative value. But that’s the point. No deal can be made from the oilers standpoint without salary going the other way.
And since Brodie had a mediocre season, not sure a top ten pick is reasonable straight across. I wouldnt do that anyway. There’d Have to be some positive/negative value exchange elsewhere
