there's so much up in the air, everybody assumes a new coach, but who knows?
I really haven't believed that the organization is so tired of AV that they are willing to eat the last two years of his contract
I believe they'd have no problem eating the last two years if they had enough of him, but I don't think they necessarily have.
And, that has to be figured out before the next captain does - jimbo83
And that is frustrating. AV seems to live in his own little world these days. I'm not dismissing what he has done in his career, but right now he is far from the right coach for this team, IMO.
I'll bring up again what he did last night. He's got Quickie on the 1st line, which while unorthodox has proven to be the right decision. Then, at the end of the game when we were all over them looking to tie it up, Fast doesn't see the ice in the last 2.5 minutes?!?!? And this is the back-to-back Player's Player Award winner, looking for his first career hat trick. Who also happens to be the 2nd hottest, if not THE hottest player on the team right now. That is not the move of someone who cares about his team or his locker room.
And look at Stinky. Not producing? Down to the 4th line you go! That's AV's one and only tactic. Regardless of the player or what might best motivate or educate them.
He's out of touch.

I don't believe that the organization thinks that AV's only role is line combinations

Not my point, Jimmy. The head coach is the guy that is supposed to have his finger on the pulse of the team. AV seems like he doesn't spend 5 seconds with his players outside of the game clock running down, and doesn't care to.
You don't think every guy in that room wouldn't have been over-joyed to see Fast get a 3rd goal? It would have been the biggest high point since trading away a bunch of good friends.
edit: And I'm not trying to make this the biggest tragedy since the Hindenburg, but to not even put him out there to try for it is mind-boggling to me. Both his linemates were out there at the end. He had Zib & Kreider out there with Spooner, and then Buch.

this is the point I am trying to make Tony
I am trying to determine if the organization is unhappy enough with AV to eat the last two years of his contract and fire him
so, little things like last night, not putting Fast out there to get a hat trick, blah blah blah, none of that matters in the grand scheme of things when thy ultimately evaluate him and decide to pull the plug.
I just think that the organization likes AV. I know the frustrations we all have, Rangers bloggers have, twitter, I get it.

idk man. everytime Gorton has had the opp lately to given even a hint of praise/support he has avoided it

Ok. But, I disagree.
I think that things like trying to keep a good attitude and atmosphere in the locker room when you have been eliminated from playoff contention and trying to coach a new player and put him in a position to succeed rather than burying him on the 4th line are exactly the sort of things the organization should be looking at when they try to determine who should coach the team through a rebuild.
Sorry for the run-on sentence, Peter.

I also think Gorton/Sather like AV, I'd be surprised to see him go this season especially with how the team has played since the TDL.

I think you have to be really tired of a coach and desperately want him out to eat the last 10 million dollars out of his contract
and I just don't see enough evidence to believe they are desperate enough to do that
especially if you subscribe to the theory that JT Miller was traded because AV doesn't like him, because if that's true, then why would they fire him - jimbo83
Exactly. Who else would they bring in besides Ruff?
