Gawd. It leaves such a bad taste, doesn't it? On facebook, I just told a friend from Pittsburgh (At least, I think he is a friend, but I guess one of those Russian facebook bots could have taken over his account. He likes Malkin and has a Russian wife.) that I was "hoping the Pens would win against NJ". I clarified it and made sure he new I was just hoping and in no way actively rooting for the Pens (or NJ for that matter).

This is how I feel when the Rags and Devils play. I just root for whichever team winning puts the Flyers in a better position and hope it doesn't go past regulation.

My bet, no lineup changes but I think Hagg should be back, he hits and all know it. Manning is tough but no one is thinking about him what so ever

What, you want to give more than a shred of responsibility to a young player in a key game?

Hak don't play that.

But the glue. Will someone please think of the glue?

I think that some opponents worry about hurting their hands on his face from time to time.

Also, Alain Vigneault is apparently a bad coach for showing emotion when his team got absolutely screwed on a disallowed goal. Emotionless Hakstol is a great coach because he would never show emotion to fight for his team or players.

haha

But seriously, there's no way the ref was able to see that thing the entire time, should have been blown dead.

I get that veterans get more leeway than young players but I do find it funny that a young player gets benched for "not protecting the puck well" while some veterans never miss a shift for the same thing. I know, players aren't treated equally, blah blah, i get it but honestly has Simmonds ever been good defensively? I love Jake and take the bad with the good but how many times do we see him get a little reckless with the puck?

There we go Scoob...way to find a positive spin with all these Marchand fluffers around.

- Lexington Flyer

Seriously though, why does Marchand deserve to be in the convo? He's #18 overall, he's 20 points behind Kucherov

I was told by multiple people on here that it's a good thing that Hak never shows any emotion whatsoever on the bench. I'm still waiting for someone to throw a flying elbow at Provorov that gets no call and Hak to just give that quizzical blank stare as he looks on.

No no no, you've got it all wrong.

If a young player makes a mistake, he MAY learn from it, so putting him on the bench to let him learn to do not do it again is a good idea.

If a veteran makes a mistake, he will not learn from it, so putting him on the ice repeatedly to do the same thing is a good idea.

In his defense, this treatment of players is not done only by Hakstol, but I still don't like it.

Thank you good read. Funny how the media is pressing about the message of playing it safe.

This, there is no reason for this, I was ok at the end of the game but tks minutes for the 3rd, really???

He was credited with four shifts totaling 2:28 in the third period. He saw the ice for 30 seconds in the final 13 minutes of the game.

If that line is flying, then you fight fire with fire. Konecny was creating the most offensive pressure, so you put him out there and you punch them harder than they punch you. If you can't stop them, then you don't let them stop you, either. The Read swap didn't really seem to have any effect on that line creating havoc.
- jmatchett383

They did fight fire with fire for most of the game. It wasn't working.

So that guy coming down the left center was not ahead of any other flyer? Manning didn’t pinch on the right boards in the neutral zone??? The shooter was off to the right, not a terrible play by gudas, could have stepped up but the shot was off to the side. A goal Lyon would like to have back
- wcorvette

It was not a 2 on 1. Manning pinched up and challenged on the left side of the ice in the neutral zone. It was the right play. The backchecking forwards had the other players covered. Konecny was going the wrong way and the puck went right by him. I know it's easy just to blame the scapegoat but Manning is not the culprit on that play.

I agree that line was flying but even when Read was switched it didn’t help, they didn’t score but they stayed in the flyers end

End of the game I get it but to give this ice time to Tk, takes one of the players the Rags had to fear off the ice

1. Watch the video, Staal was coming down the slot, yes there was a flyer but Staal was open and there was another Rags. Shot was the play for sure
2. Manning got beat by a little chip , either he committed late to step up or there was no need to.
3. I didn’t say it was Manning’s fault, gudas didn’t have bad position either, Lyon needed to make the save
4. The pair of gudas and manning have coverage similar to this on the regular, I don’t think it was the cause here but it happens way to often to a vet pair of D

I did watch the video. Numerous times. It was not a 2 on 1. Manning made the right read within the system.

Read is the better choice in defensive coverage if they're going to spend a lot of time defending against a line that was buzzing all game. It was also based on issues Konency was having in the game with making the right plays.
