What happens to the Mrazek conditions if he gets waved or sent to A. Does Det give us a bag of pucks?

I was thrilled to see that Manning didn't have any issues with speed or gap control last night, especially on the first Rangers' goal.

I hope Hak keeps Hagg's ass stapled to the bench for the forseeable future so we get to see more of that every game as we try to make the playoffs. Great coaching decision.

Now, does Lyon get the start against the Pens on Sunday? I think he should
- 3flyerkids

I think he should. So did Clement in the post-game last night. Hak will be Hak. We'll see.

What, you want to give more than a shred of responsibility to a young player in a key game?

Hak don't play that.

Travesty. Nobody knew where the puck was. How could the refs not blow the whistle?

That said, yes, it is funny.

all I know is that it counted for -1 fantasy points, so I was okay with it

Hakstol is a bit of a contradiction. He is a younger guy with an old man’s hockey mentality.

Again, thought we were getting a progressive coach, but instead we have a bit of a dinosaur. Credit goes to the players for what they’ve done this season.

Grammar update, folks: As used above "Lyon's" is a contraction for "Lyon is"

Oh, well if that's the new rule around here we might as well just close up shop permanently.

Alex Lyon, people. Not Lyons, Lyon. Singular. No "s" on the end.

It wasn't just Konecny being benched that led to the Flyers being stuck in their own zone most of the 3rd period. It was Filppula and Lehtera getting more 3rd period ice time than Patrick, and Manning getting more than Ghost and Sanheim (after being a healthy scratch the past two games).

with this team their best defense is their offense cause their team defense is a tad frightening

lol

George: What'd you do last night?

Konecny: Well, I played my regular shift, I scored a couple goals, and then I sat for the end of the third period.

George: There's a plan. That's a plan.

That was the standard manning pinch to create a 2-1. Overall he wasn’t Amy better or worse than the rest, he iced the puck, had give aways etc.

On one hand I get it, play a forward who is good in the D Side of the puck. On the other hand it is playing it safe, you are no longer driving the play and they they tend to sit back. Watch Pitt, they have a lead and they pour it on. Flyers are a young team, Hak has the best info to make the best call
- wcorvette

It had nothing to do with playing it safe. The Couturier line was getting thrashed by the Fast line the entire game. They weren't driving play, they were getting driven!

If you read csn comments geez they are negative.

So does manning stay in? Was he better than Hagg?

Does Hak’s conservative style at the end of games help or hurt?

It was not a 2 on 1. It was a one on one with Zbanejad on Gudas. It was poorly played by Gudas and it was a save that should've been made. Manning's challenge in the neutral zone was the correct play within the system.

I'm sure that if Konecny played a regular shift the entire game, and he made a blunder that resulted in a Rangers goal, some on this board would be all over Hakstol for playing him in such a crucial situation.

The odd thing is how Hak totally created the conservative style at the end of the game thing..

Yah said no one ever that has watched hockey since forever..

Points in 4 games 3 wins in that period. Lets not lose track of that.

It is playing it safe, he used Read because of Reads ability on the D side of the puck and tk’s not playing good D. Playing it safe isn’t always a bad thing. Did Read change them getting thrashed? Nope. I am a read fan and have no issue with the move. As I said, it is a young team and Hak knows better

Nothing to do with playing it safe. Had to do with trying to find a way to slow down the Fast line who was killing them all game.

I agree that he's not the first coach to ever do that. Still doesn't make it a good idea, kind of like the prevent defense in football.

This team doesn't have the team-wide defense required to shutdown a team for a full period playing back on their heels (well, maybe Buffalo). Their best bet is to keep their foot on the pedal and keep playing the way that got them the lead. Do you maybe not try a high-risk/high-reward play that you try in the first? Sure. But to just let the other team continually come at you is not a recipe for winning.

So that guy coming down the left center was not ahead of any other flyer? Manning didn’t pinch on the right boards in the neutral zone??? The shooter was off to the right, not a terrible play by gudas, could have stepped up but the shot was off to the side. A goal Lyon would like to have back
