LADD’S AGENT FOR GM! - Wildschwein
How's his relationship with Chiarelli?
Actually I can see Snow promoting Ladd to assistant GM:
"When I signed Ladd for 7 years I knew he had an eye for talent. We always planed to bring him into the front office." |

I believe they are mathematically eliminated from the 1st Wild Card, but not from the 2nd.

I was hoping Ledecky was out of excuses for stopping his Belmont victory tour and start being a real owner. |

I do not see any good leaders among the current players. I really hope JT stays and he is a great offensive player, but I would not miss him as a Captain. |

Staples latest from The Athletic
BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Islanders were not officially eliminated on Saturday night. That's about the only not-lousy news from their latest home loss.
Of course, the official elimination could come on Monday in Barclays Center at the hands of the Panthers and their associate head coach, Jack Capuano. In a season of disappointments, having their old coach officially slam the season shut would be a doozy.
— This 3-1 loss to the Hawks was a low-event affair, just 102 attempts combined in all situations. The Hawks did indeed get a couple of unfortunate bounces for their second-period goals, John Tavares (whose line was really poor at even strength) scored the lone Isles goal late and… well, that was it. There are seven games left and now the Islanders sit just a point ahead of the Hawks in the overall standings, so another few nights like Saturday and the Isles might end the season in the No. 7 lottery spot.
In the two-plus seasons the Islanders have called Barclays Center home, they've only failed to beat two of the other 30 teams in the league there: The Bruins (0-5-0) and the Hawks (0-2-1). Of course, Chicago is no force to be reckoned with this season and Jonathan Toews was sidelined on Saturday, but still the Islanders couldn't pull one out.
— The penalty kill surrendered another one, dropping the league's worst PK to 74.3 percent efficiency. That would be the worst season total for an Islanders team since 1988-89, when they killed off 73.5 percent.
Part of associate coach Greg Cronin's portfolio was the PK during his previous three seasons, and here were the Isles' season PK percentages since he was hired: 77.9 (2014-15), 84.5 (2015-16), 82.4 (2016-17).
Yes, Frans Nielsen was a big factor in those first two seasons. And Nikolay Kulemin's absence for much of this season has pretty much rendered Tavares ineffective as a PKer since Cronin and Capuano put Tavares there in December of 2016.
But the drop-off, like the Isles' inability to defend well at even strength, is pretty inexplicable. “Bad bounces, bad positioning, inability to clear pucks, broken sticks,” Cal Clutterbuck said on Saturday morning, listing off all the ways the Islanders have been victimized on the kill. “You name it. And everything ends up in our net.”
— Nick Leddy minus update: He was on for both non-power play goals by the Hawks, dropping him to minus-40 for the season. It's uncanny. On Brandon Saad's goal in the second, he took a cross-ice pass that had Leddy turned around. Saad's shot hit the end boards and Jaro Halak thought it would angle off the end glass and come out the other side; the puck came back out the same side of the cage, back towards Saad, who got to it before Leddy and banked it in off Halak.
And Leddy was on the for the empty-net goal against, naturally, to add to the minus total. The last NHLer to finish a season minus-40 or worse was Rico Fata, who was a minus-46 for the Penguins in 2003-04. |

That kind of sums up Leddy's season. He seems to lose a lot of races to loose pucks. His play has appeared to be lackadaisical. Don't know what happened to him this season...... |

Leddy seems to have some Nelson to his game. This team needs a hard driving coach that will not take BS. |
