And where does he rank in defensive zone starts for the other centers?

I’ll bet it’s #1
And I’ll bet it probably isn’t even close

Nowhere in my point did i say O’Reilly wasn’t used offensively
It’s that he’s used TOO MUCH in our own end
Mostly, bc there’s no one else we can trust to take important def zone draws
That wears on a guy

He is #1

You know who’s 2,3,4,5?

Barkov
Couturier
Seguin
Giroux

All guys producing a ton more on offense, especially at even.

Just because he’s used defensively doesn’t prevent him from scoring. In fact he’s so good at defending and faceoffs, shouldn’t he be flipping the ice and turning those starts into chances?

Yeah, it should
But our defensemen SUCK at getting the puck up the ice...
right?

That’s not RORs fault?

And where did i say that ROR is better than any of those other guys u mentioned?

Im gonna break this down even further...
Bc the numbers you’re looking at don’t tell the story accurately

Typically...
O’Reilly wins the draw to our defensemen
Now,
That should result in us moving the puck up the ice
EXCEPT...
our defense is freaking horrible at that
CORRECT?

So what happens is...
-they make a bad pass
-or they turn it over
-or they just have to dump the puck out to center ice bc they can’t find a winger
-or they can’t skate it out
-or they succumb to the forcheck pressure

When u look at your numbers...
it reads like O’Reilly winning the faceoff has no effect
But ROR did his job
All the other stuff is why the “ice doesn’t tilt”

The reason it looks like his faceoffs don’t matter is bc our TEAM doesn’t do it’s job once that faceoff gets won

Get what I’m saying?

However you wish to slice it, if Kane,ROR and the rest of the boys were playing up to their abilities, Murray would still be the GM and the Sabres would be New Jersey right now.

Neither the Kane trade nor the ROR trade were bad trades ............ it's just another chapter in a very thick book of players that can't seem to play well in Buffalo and for the life of me ... or anyone else who's a fan of this team, it's impossible to find an answer as to why this is.

Was at the game last night and OH BOY what a poop show!

Nolan got at least 4 Offensive zone starts in the first period alone.... could not believe it.

I dont care if its a double shift or not I never want to see Larson with Eichel.

Why in the world did Phil have Wilson on the ice in the last minute instead of Eichel?

Granted Eichel did not play well but come on already. I understand Phil is going to talk about compete and playing hard but it kinda looked like he mailed that game in as well with some of his moves.

The arena had an almost nervous feel to it to me. When Arizona scored first it felt like people werent sure whether to cheer or be mad.

I think Eichel was done after the first shift when he put a beautiful behind the back backhand pass right on Okmoulso's stick, who then proceeded to act like it was a grenade and fumbled a glorious slot opportunity. They really need to find him a talented winger who can match his hockey sense.

Oh for sure! I am totally on board with that as well lol. It just blows to see such a crap game against AZ when we should at least score.. but then still ultimately loose

It has been a very, very weird season to be sure.
I’m not 100% sure they are tanking on purpose, about 80% there maybe.
But, JBotts has had a huge hand in letting the players’ true colors show, and sitting on his hands. All in all,he should have very clear vision of what is exactly needed going forward.

I also agree with The Clown in that a large number of players need to go as they are simply not championship material...even lesser skilled guys who are not expected to produce at a prolific rate but should contribute in other ways.

As far as ROR goes, he is a perfect example. I don’t think he has contributed the way he should be..it is ok for now, but in another year, they need to displace him. That is to say, he isn’t a “problem” player, but he isn’t core either, and at 7.5m he absolutely needs to be. Keep him for a year, allow Mitts to settle in, then dump him. The following season.

No they're this bad just like last year and the year before that and the year before that etc

Tanking on purpose? I'm the pro tank guy

but these guy are not trying to tank they just suck

Yes, the players are terrible. They are trying.

Jbotts assembled a team that would have a hard time winning. Starting with Lehner and Johnson.

Just because everyone now realizes that Lehner is a complete waste and let's soft goals in constantly, doesn't mean jbotts and a few of us didn't see him for what he is.

Bowl u (trade)
Chad
Pommer (trade)
Pouilot
Tennyson
Griffith
Redmond (trade)
Cristo

This is a TANK TEAM

kept Moulson for 14 games
Hired rookie soft friendly nice coach
Replaced the #1 pp coach

Anyone really think jbotts assembled this crew to win?

I used to actually think some people on here were pretty intelligent analyzing hockey....

Now I know they are just as clueless as I am.

So now I can't take anyone seriously.
