I think he may be saying that RoR would be a better player in a lesser role. I think most would agree on that.

7.5 million dollar better?

for a guy that wanted out of colorado because he wanted to be a center and captain

he sure didn't embrace that opportunity here

Please list the number of defensive zone faceoffs O’Reilly has
Vs
the number Larsson has

I assure you...
it’s extremely lop-sided

Actually...
why don’t u list them for ALL our centers?
Then you’ll see who is out there for the tough defensive zone assignments the overwhelming majority of the time

It's always funny to watch you squirm when stats don't match your narrative.

That’s just another way to say that players perform better when they are on better teams

If ROR just took the $$$ and nailed it in...
then how is it that all the guys he plays against feel he’s underrated?

It’s very convenient for your argument that u answer NONE of the questions i pose

- jdfitz77

you don't answer mine

he was brought here to make us a playoff team, not dead last

he was brought here to help the locker room, not smash into a building drunk and difficult to get along with the real future of this team (jack)

he was brought here to make wingers better, how is that working?

the fact we are farther away from a playoff spot now, is my case why he is an average center who can win faceoffs

maybe if he had a spark, he would play to win instead of stay back and try to win another lady byng trophy

he is getting up in age, and is soon to be a bad contract

this is buffalo, we need better than good

it's a cap era

he was a player that would have been fine if we were ready to knock on the playoff door

we are not that team 3 years later, and the product on the ice is not getting better any time soon

I really think they need to move him to the wing

- homiedclown

Well until we become Tampa...
we are gonna have to overpay people
Buff-a-tax
That’s just the way it is Homie

The 1.5mil that O’Reilly is overpaid isn’t stopping us from doing anything

If Botts actually lets all our talented kids play next year, i think you’ll like what u see a lot more

I get you’re frustrated in game
70-something of another sh!tty season...
but ROR is a good player

And u don’t just trade good players bc they aren’t “great”

Chicago had to do that...
now look at them

However you wish to slice it, if Kane,ROR and the rest of the boys were playing up to their abilities, Murray would still be the GM and the Sabres would be New Jersey right now.

Neither the Kane trade nor the ROR trade were bad trades ............ it's just another chapter in a very thick book of players that can't seem to play well in Buffalo and for the life of me ... or anyone else who's a fan of this team, it's impossible to find an answer as to why this is.

I think he would be better served on this team, playing the wing and helping a young center find his game.

Let him take the draws, but let someone else create the plays because right now it's not working

I’m not doing that at all

O’Reilly plays all the tough defensive minutes for us

Larsson has a high def zone start,
Bc Jack, then ROR, get the majority of the off zone starts

If Larsson has 6 def zone starts and 4 offensive zone starts...

Do u really think that weighs as heavily as ROR having 12 def zone starts & 8 o-zone?

The cumulative numbers tell A LOT more of who is actually getting the tough defensive zone minutes
True, or False?

Would buffalo select Dahlin with the number 1 overall or Zadina? Or is that not even a debate?

Yet somehow...
his peers and our coach & GM all disagree with you

Sounds like u want him to be Malkin
No one is saying he is...
just that u are being too harsh,
and that O’Reilly is a good player

#2 is debatable between Zadina & Svechnikov

I just think its strange that all of the sudden the avs become really good when Matt Duchene and Ryan O'Reilly are gone

Dahlin he's the Connor McDavid of defenseman

I would legit quit as a fan if we took z at 1

side note

this professional running back had almost 14,000 rushing yards
600 catches for almost 6,000 receiving yards

7 nfl seasons in the 10 ten for all purpose yards

and has never even sniffed the pro football hall of fame

can you name him?

on that note, play nice in the sandbox

Take a deep breath.

You've been arguing that 58% dzone starts is extreme defensive utilization and hurting his corsi. These are all relative stats. The cumulative numbers are irrelevant to them.

one more reason to move him to the wing, and take the face offs
