No I do not. But a line up that included Tavares, Patrick, Coots and Laughton at center would be able to compete with the Pens and have a realistic shot at winning.
- mickel25

Still need goaltending, a PK, and a competent 3rd pair on defense.

Signing Tavares is about the least Hextall thing I could see Hextall doing. Not to mention he'll get traded for assets before he ever hits the open market. You have to blow up the farm to get his rights.

I realize what he said. That's just a parameter he threw out there to change the context.

The statement was Taveras CAN"T get more than 7 years from any team other than the Islanders. That is false.

- MJL

Okay so we're just making blanket statements today and ignoring details again. Cool, good to know. Kimmo Timmonen=John Tavares because you said so.

You are very quickly turning into a weird James Tanner-esque character some days.

I agree that signing him is not Hextall's style. Hextall will also NEVER trade assets just to talk to the guy.

Goaltending and defense are already in the pipeline. I would do it if it only cost money. I am not the GM.

Quality straw man there!

I'm not making a blanket statement, I'm correcting a blanket statement that was made that was incorrect. I challenge you to prove me wrong. Good luck.

On the bright side if hextall quits as gm there are a few candidates on this board for the job.

They turned me down when Hextall got the job. I was in the final group of three. They said I needed more seasoning. They also did not like my opinion of Amac's skillset. Maybe next time.

Free agents I would sign at the right price...

Backlund - If you must improve our centers Backlund is excellent defensively and could slot in at 3c. I don't know what he's expecting contract wise but I imagine he will cost at least 3x4 for 12. AT LEAST.

Perron/Maroon/Grabner - Guys who bring different things to the wing position which is an area we can afford to improve on. All 3 can play up and down a lineup. They all add a different dimension this team could use. I wouldn't again go more than 2-3 years and depends on cap hits.

Raanta/Dell/Hutton - Both look like guys who could succeed with increased playing time. Raanta has been great for a dreadful Arizona team. Dell honestly looks like he could be the starter in San Jose but money talks and with Jones extension in place he isn't going anywhere. Dell will probably look for a team that can provide him with 35-40 starts next season. Hutton has had a great year but who knows if it'll continue at his age.

Enstrom/ Johnson / Emelin / Hamhuis - Insert aging veteran d man here. If we think we must have another veteran d man in the lineup with Amac (which I don't find necessary with the emergence of provy and gost as a legit top pairing) these guys all fit the bill of short term potentially low cost guys.

BiggE how did I do?

I could see the Flyers in the free agent market for a reasonably priced 3rd line center in a short term deal or possibly a bottom 6 winger in the same kind of deal.

No one here would have been shrewd enough to get Weise on such a friendly contract.

He will probably stay with the Islanders. Depends on how much he believes in Snow.
- mickel25

He can not believe in Snow all he wants but look outside the damn window itโ€™s there if you believe it or not. ๐Ÿ˜†

Yeah I agree I just don't want to dabble in the Weise type market. I think that role can be filled internally. All the guys mentioned for forwards can place top 6 if needed but are better slated on the third line. They all bring different dimensions whether it be physicality or PK.

If we could move on from Neuvirth I would be highly interested in a goalie as well to split with Elliot. If they succeed they could be the guy we pair with our young goalies moving forward. If they trust lyons/stoly is ready for the big show that's fine too.

I would love to see Stoli or Lyon as the backup next year. Definitely a realistic chance of it at this point. Neuvirth should be gone and Mrazek should not be resigned.

I would love to see it but I would be equally happy with Raanta or Dell.

Soo...a 3 point game between FLA and CBJ is almost guaranteed right?

Just win the games ya need to win, Philly, and get in. Let the rest of the cards fall how they will.

Excuse is the wrong word but there is absolutely a reasonable explanation for not using Giroux. He's simply been awful at the shootout in recent usage. I still would put the game on his stick and I disagree with the shootout choices but that doesn't mean that there wasn't reason behind the choices.
- MJL

Semantics. In a do over, Hak puts G out there 10 times out of 10. That is just a spot where you want the game on the captain's stick.
