The Orr goal? THAT is what makes this rivalry night? A bit thin.....
- MBFlyerfan

Wish Canada sports channels would do all NHL games. I know the bulk of the TV revenue the NHL gets is from American markets, NBC and Fox Sports but man the NBC national games are just a bad product.

Nobody goes to college for marketing. They graduate with English Lit degrees and end up in marketing.

Fair enough. But once they end up there they have access to a wide variety of information that us plebes don't have. Plus, a lot goes on behind the scenes that we simply do not know about.

So, I'll default to current NHL line of thinking. There must be good reasons for it.

i wont open up a whole can of worms here, but i dont subscribe to the theory that just because its the way its being done by the person currently appointed to do it, it necessarily is being done in the best and most conducive method possible.

this seems very similar to the fans opinion verses coaches opinion debate haha

Flyers must’ve learned that Marody was not planning on signing with them or something. Otherwise the trade is a head scratcher I think. Maybe they were worried Marody was going to go all the way to free agency next year in order to get a better chance a cracking a roster?

It’s just stupid, once again the NHL tries to create fake rivalries where none exist. The division winners should be rewarded with the top 2 seeds, followed by the next 6 best teams in the conference.

Potentially having the #2 and #3 team in the conference play in the first round is just asinine.

I wouldn't mind SHL style, 1-3 pick their opponent.

Now they can draft another prospect in the third round and develop him a bit then trade the new guy for a second or maybe first

It should always be highest available seed plays lowest available seed, every round. No brackets.

That was the way it used to be and it was perfect.

It was the SouthEast when they planned this out. Caps and Bolts basically had a free ride to the playoffs every year.

Now there's more parity than ever and the seeding doesn't make a lick of sense.

I’m confused. Who is the #2 Washington or Boston? In either scenario #2 wouldn’t be playing #3.

Looking at the divisions. Sure looks like the top Atlantic teams benefited from some really crap teams in their division, I won’t feel bad at all watching Toronto and Boston in the 1st round

No I agree that's the way it should be but it'd be fun to see which teams shoot themselves in the foot

It would also definitely give the team that got chosen some extra incentive to play hard.

The Pens have Crosby, Malkin, Kessell, LeTang all signed. Around $34mil between the four players. If the Flyers signed Tavares and gave Provorov a raise they would be probably be around $36mil. 12 to Tavares and 8 to Provorov + G and Voracek.

Why can't they do it?

- mickel25

8 to Provy??? Easy tiger.
