Mood in the room on the Cooper Marody trade?
I'm glad I don't have to care about Michigan hockey anymore. - johndewar
Turning a 6th into a 3rd isn't bad and who knows if he was going to sign with the Flyers anyway |

I also really felt the name "Cooper Marody" was more a LAX player sort of name than a hockey player name. |

Yep
I think I hurt myself rolling my eyes when I saw Weal out there. - Scoob
Did you also hurt yourself on 11/4/17 when Weal scored in the shootout and Giroux failed on his attempt? Or on 11/16/17 when Weal scored and Giroux had the game on his stick with the 3rd attempt and failed again?
The Flyers are 15-31 in shootouts since the start of 14-15, and a large reason for that is the guy who has taken the most shots over that span, 39 of them, has only beaten the goalie seven times. |

I realize what he said. That's just a parameter he threw out there to change the context.
The statement was Taveras CAN"T get more than 7 years from any team other than the Islanders. That is false. - MJL

Semantics. In a do over, Hak puts G out there 10 times out of 10. That is just a spot where you want the game on the captain's stick. - Lexington Flyer
That's complete nonsense. Do Boston make their captain and best player first choice in the shootout? No, they don't. They have a 20 year old dman ahead of him this season.

Bergeron is their captain and best player, like Giroux. He is not one of their best shootout scorers, like Giroux.
There doesn't need to be an example. It is possible for a team other than the islanders to sign Taveras to an 8 year contract. That is an indisputable fact. - MJL
Wrong. The player needs to be on the team's reserve list at the trade deadline in order to be eligible for an 8 year deal.
Article 50.8 Prohibited SPC Terms and Practices, (b), (iv)
An SPC with a term of greater than seven (7) years, provided, however,
that a Club may sign a Player to an SPC with a term of up to eight (8)
years if that Player was on such Club's Reserve List as of and since the
most recent Trade Deadline. With respect to potential Unrestricted Free
Agents only, the ability to re-sign a Player to an SPC of eight (8) years
expires when the Player becomes an Unrestricted Free Agent. |

In my opinion, you're 100% correct on Taveras. Doesn't make sense for the Flyers to do that. As far as defenseman is concerned, I think this off season they will view both Provorov and Gostisbehere as veterans. Sanheim and MacDonald as the 2nd pair, and hopefully Morin can play with Haag on the 3rd pair. If Manning will come back for the right cost, he can be the 7th. - MJL
Personally I don't trust Hak not to use Manning as the 6 and keep one of the younger guys in the press box for far longer than they deserve. |

I completely trust Hakstol and his evaluation of players, especially the younger players. As long as the young players play well, there won't be an issue there in my opinion. I Manning was willing to sign for the right price and term, I see him as an ideal 7th NHL defenseman.

With ya on manning but trust the way he develops young players, he tends to be various and that is ok but he seems to have favorites at times |

According to writers at the flyers optional practice today Neuvirth is full participant and he is absolutely killing it. Apparently looks much better than mrazek in all the drills. Maybe playoff Neuvirth is showing up for our stretch run? - Tfaehner
I expect nothing less than Neuvirth to return and be injured again before the end of the regular season. |

I'll summarize what is hockey related:
-Marody traded for devils third rounder in 2019 via oilers
-Neuvirth full participant in practice and made some really awesome saves people saying he looks way sharper than mrazek but we expect him to get injured on his way to the stadium tomorrow night
-John Tavares is a terrible idea to sign but some people think he will make us a cup contender
-Carter Heart is really good at hockey |

Trust me fam, if I were worried about it you should worry about it. Marody is not the dude. This third round pick will be more valuable to the Flyers chances of winning a cup. - YuenglingJagr
