Tough loss ..but again their defense collapsed with a lead. .a major pattern for several years...I'm kinda surprised ..Babs didn't run with the hot goaltender. .maky won third star of the week with amazing stats ...thought he'd go with andersen against Nashville .. two bad goals tho doesnt put the blame solely on andersens shoulders..he should be more sharp against nashville (hopfully)but team seems to pull together when guys go out the line up (injury)..huh.. And often times they'll say they use top teams as a barometer/measuring stick to where the team stacks up..we can score with the best of them ..and goaltending is fine. .but my god that defense ...they need some franking work! and a question. .plecks trade. .why? ..

Yes off with an injury. With the garbage D in front of him, he has to be awesome most nights....it was his first game back....a little rust is expected. Maybe Babs could have brought him back against a weaker team and not one of the highest scoring teams in the league....but....such is life.

3+ goals in 11 of his past 13 starts. Even without the injury, he hasn't been himself lately.

And yes, I agree, the D in front of him has been poop which is why he needs to make 35, 40 even 45 saves some nights just to have a chance. All the more reason to keep resting him, especially with an injury. Even with him back, they should split the last 9 games 5/4. They can't go up or down in the standings anyway.

LeBrun says JVR is worth 6.5 AAV for 6-7 years. I'd take him at 6 x 6.

Agree ..why take the chance? ..let Macky get some more minutes ..a well rested. ..tho not rusty ..goaltender would be encouraging. .IMHO

All it takes is one idiot GM but if you look at all the teams out there, who can really afford to add JVR at that price? Who needs him that badly? Maybe Calgary? If you go down the list of teams that have the cap space, which team actually does it?

If they re-sign JVR at 6.5x6, they're going to have to move Martin (maybe put Leivo with him so somebody takes him), let Bozak and/or Komarov walk, consider trading Zaitsev (if they can with that (frank)ing contract) because that extra cap space is going to come in really handy when Matthews, Marner and Nylander get their contracts. It'll be a really tight squeeze.
