It was d!ck move on his part. He said he wouldnt accept a trade at the deadline cause he didnt want start with a team mid season.
A season later, he signs with Vancouver in January.

So since he was already keen on playing one more (half)season he signed somewhere else, seeing as how he was told no by his team of choice.

Actually the Leafs, Rangers and Canucks all offered Sundin a contract in the off season.....he held off cause he was thinking about retirement.
Once we decided he was coming back....he decided to choose between Canucks and Rangers.
