I guess what's depressing with them likely to miss the playoffs, those picks are wasted on the rentals and they'll likely get a 12-15 pick. Meaning likely another year of mediocrity and no quick fix unless Shero somehow signs Tavares or trades for Karlsson and something insane like that.

Why does nobody get that a huge part of the rebuild is the young players currently on your roster getting better? I hate this idea that if the Devils miss the playoffs and pick 14th that because they are picking later they'll definitely be mediocre next year.

Its really weird how Corey is the focus when the team has come out flat and unfocused after being flat and unfocused the previous game. This is much more concerning considering we should be fighting for the playoffs right now.

I think this perspective is easier to see in the offseason, it just seems really disappointing right now to have been in a playoff position all season and botch it towards the end.

We are well under the cap, this year Zajacs zone starts are almost 60% in the defensive zone, kills penalties, etc. no rush to dump him. Maybe when McLeod is ready since he’s really just a faster version of Zajac.

Zajac as a 3rd line center isn't a problem and it isn't forever either. It's just that he's playing 1st/2nd line minutes and not going well.

Zacha before getting injured was going in the right direction. You really only need Zacha or McLeod to develop into a 2nd line talent which is not a bad spot to be in.

His production has been fine since his start. He's had 20 pts in his last 34 games, really no reason to get rid of him unless we can upgrade his position.
