datsyuk vs bergeron is interesting. datsyuk was flashy as hell and was a takeaway machine but he still didn't shut people down like bergeron can. his offense was leagues above bergeron though. probably dats > bergeron and the gap might be considerable. i wish we could bring prime datsyuk into the league right now.

I think they should rest the injured guys extra and bring them back for the 28th or 31st

So i just looked and Plekaneck has 0 points in 8 games.
I think though having a competent NHL C while Matthews has been out has been important. Instead of having to call up the Goat or someone to fill in. Goat not so great imo

I dont know about that. Boston has Tampa in most of the fancy stats areas and whatnot.

Id rather the Leafs face TB in rd 1, but if they manage to win a round they will probably have to face both anyways

- senstroll

I disagree, TB's lineup is superior.

Even if Boston finishes 1st, a few extra wins or OT losses here and there don't matter.

Pleks hasn't looked great either....and his fancy stats suck for a guy getting the easiest of minutes.

To be fair, he's only averaged 11 minutes a game.. On the plus side, he has won 56% of his faceoffs and gets a lot of defensive zone starts..

10 mins a game, and win your share of the FO. His fancy stats are nothing great. but he has roughly the same amount of TOI with the Leafs as the goat this season..but much better results than him. (similar to moore)

Babcock has said he thinks Datyuk could have gotten 130pts consistently and gone down as one of the best all time offensively.. but he took a back seat to play the right way and win.

I don't think the same can be said for Bergeron.

Not to the same degree as Datsyuk but for sure Bergeron sacrifices offense to play the way he does. In just his 2nd year he had 73 points, then 70 the next year. Then he got into concussion trouble (I think it was?) and sort of became the defensive forward he is now while losing a lot of offense.

Moore was a good option as a 4th line winger on Saturday. Komarov is obvs ahead of him and if we play Boston and things get 'tough' Martin may need to draw in.

It's weird having this much depth.

With Matthews out he is a better option than what they had. And in the playoffs if you need someone to fill in, I dont want Gauthier around. I just looked his CF% 35 and GF% is 14% (1-6) granted only 9 games

For sure he does. I think every two way center does, aside from Sid who is underrated even for what he does.

I just don't think Bergeron would be a generational offensive center like Datsyuk could have been.
