I totally agree trade them now when we can get a decent return. Janko will definitely be better. And Bennett has to take a long look in the mirror this summer he I hope is better then what he has showed. Draisaitl isn't all that yeah he is a fairly good player but not so much when he is separated from mcoiler. He can't carry a line. I AM STIll holding out that Bennett will be just as good if not better
- pzoxic

Wut...

Sure the oilers are awful, but leon is one of the few bright spots. Heโ€™s a ppg player.

Bennett isnโ€™t in the same stratosphere.

I'm not saying he is a horrible player but like 99.9 % of players are way better if they were on mcdavid line. Dri has been given the opportunity to play with way better players for extended periods Of time. Bennett has has some opportunities but short stints. And you have to agree draisaitl isn't worth his contract and really his defensive game sucks! He Is defiantly o one way player

Probably the best night of the entire season for you guys. Fine with that. As long as the Oilers are a basement team that sucks the balls of the rest of the league.

Or don't and troll the dummies.

Draisatl had one good year last year and got paid big time and is now a problem cap wise for the Oilers. Bennett is a bust ala Daniel Tkachuk. I don't think Draisatl would've made a big difference in Calgary, there is no McDavid here..........

- FlamesFan1230

Same pace as last year more or less. Playing less with McDavid since the all-star break. More so since Nugent-Hopkins has returned. Guy isn't so much of a leach on Mcdavid as it's made sound here. Yes better with him but who wouldn't be?

Yeah I'd trade any defence not named Dougie for a top line rw. If Larson gets you Hall, I'd look at a team that's desperate for d, just think what Gio would bring back, although I'd rather keep him. Brodie would shine out east, has to be a trade there somewhere.
As far as prospects, Dube going to play, I've been watching him since he was 16, guys got all the tools!
Please no more trading draft picks for a while, sure way lose your job as a gm.

- K-man25

Larsson was 23 and signed to a long term affordable contract.

Gio is 34 is signed for another 4 years at 2.5 million more.

Comparisons are not available between the 2. At 23 Gio was not a NHL regular. At 23 Larsson was still an up and comer. May not have yet become what Jersey thought they had nor what Edmonton thought they were getting. But no one is giving half of a Hall for a declining or soon to be declining Gio. Also, no one is paying a premium for Brodie after the season he's had. In order to upgrade there will need to be prospects/picks involved.

I would argue that drai puts more effort in the defensive zone than McDavid.

Slightly overpaid based on this season, but based on his ceiling,it is a perfectly fair contract.

Just a shame about the contract anchor for Lucic. I gave him 2 good years out of 5, didn't even get that.

- FLflames34

100% agreed. He might be a slight over pay today. But once the expansion fees and contracts up the cap he should be fair value if not slightly under... provided chia doesn't ship him off beforehand.

NYI management and fans must be happy!

Burke must be the one forcing Treliving to make some of those trades. And he is totally ruining the franchise like he did to Toronto.

He will forever be in the "win now" mindset and always be willing to trade away 1st round picks

Declining Gio still way better than a rising Larson, so your points are garbage.

Well, that franchise now plays in Arizona. Atlanta/Winnipeg were swept both times they made it. Not that it's even relevant to the conversation.

I am going to add to this. If 2004-2009 Kipper played behind this team, as constructed, there would be no whining.
- FLflames34

Well no poop Sherlock....I have news for you, Kipper aint gonna play next year!

The Flames have always had the same mantra. They have been willing to trade and have traded away many first rounders.

Sometimes they work (Hamilton) sometimes they don't (Jokinen lol). I am still on the fence with the Hamonic deal. He's a solid second pairing guy, and that's tough to draft even in the first round. But I think he can play better, and hope he does next year. Maybe he needs a new D partner #blamebrodie
