I dont think its been Sids wingers thats been the problem the past few weeks, I think its been Sid. Just not that hungry and engaged looking. The wingers shouldn't be the pulse of the first line, Sid should be. - MattStrat
No argument here, he’s been asleep most of the year. But watching his wingers loose 1-1 battles a lot this year. Jake and Sheary have difficulty in our zone. Very rarely does Sid get the puck clean and in full stride. Sometimes he’s the last guy out of the zone cause he’s so low supporting.

To me he's gone the route of Yzerman....his scoring has gone down in trade for more defense and two way play. When Yzerman switched his style the cups started rolling in but his scoring dropped alot. Even in saying this though some nights he just seems like he's going through the motions. When the playoffs start, assuming they make it, he better look like he was shot out of a canon. Hes been in the league and playoffs a long time now. Its not that far fetched to think he might be saving himself a little, especially after all the games hes played the past few years.

I think Rust will help win some battles. All we can really try otherwise is ZAR there when healthy.

Hopefully ZAR is able to return. Kind of bummed he didn't skate today. It sounds like he's only skated one time since his injury (whatever that is). You gotta wonder if he'll be in any kind of shape for the playoffs.
I'm kind of pissed that Rutherford didn't add a wing at the deadline. Not happy with the Sprong issue either. Nobody will ever convince he's worse than Sheary at the moment.
RW, are there any college free agents ripe for the Pens to take to replenish their supply of youth ? Not sure how sustainable that model was, but the Pens really made good use of this in recent years.

Daniel Brickley 22 yo at Minney State - prob the best college FA dman out there. Led league in dman scoring last year. (could you imagine if the pens could have gotten will butcher last go-round? )

Pens didn’t need a wing. They needed center depth.

I was referring to his firing the puck at Matt Murray's head in practice.
It was a joke. - jmatchett383
I never knew Määttä was the one responsible for the puck to his head haha Funny how Määttä's shot and skating this year got so much better. He put on a lot of work in the short offseason.

This kid. He's also been to a few Pens prospect camps per Pensburgh.
