Morin was healthy, they just liked Hagg more, and had no intention of using Morin with Gudas. And that was the spot Manning and Sanheim shared at the start of the season. - Feanor
Probably correct.

The Flyers kept both Sanheim and Morin out of camp as an extended camp of sorts. - MJL
Incorrect. Morin only began the season with the Flyers as injury cover for Ghost, and was demoted as soon as the opening road trip was over. Sanheim played in three of the first four games. The rookie dman depth chart was always:
Hagg
Sanheim
Morin |

The Flyers weren't going to call up Lindblom to play 5-6 minutes. - MJL
Then they should have called him up to play 15-16 minutes in January. He would have been just as good then as he is now. |

There are times when you both can be correct you know? In some ways it was an extended camp for Morin. He got to travel and practice with the team on a long road trip.

I didn't necessarily have an issue with Lindblom being recalled late, because they clearly didn't want him to be a checker -- they clearly want him to be a Top 6 forward and they just didn't have that slot open until Simmonds got hurt. I realize that he started on L3, but that lasted all of, what, two periods? They just didn't want him to be a grinder at this level, so I understood it - AllInForFlyers
That's exactly my issue.
Until someone in the top-9 got hurt, they didn't have a place for him.
Then when that same top-9 player was no longer hurt, they still had a place for him.
Since they clearly feel that he deserves to stay in the lineup now that the team is (was) fully healthy at the forward position, why did they wait to give him a spot until there was an injury? If he's a seeming fixture in the top-6/9 after Simmonds returned, why wasn't he given a chance to become one before Simmonds was hurt? |

He also scored 1 goal in a 15 game stretch around that time. (Sandwiched between two 3 game goal streaks.)
I am not saying I completely disagree with you, what I am saying is that he wasn't exactly lighting it up for the Phantoms either at that point.

Those are fair questions, because he probably could have been called up, what, a month earlier? But Hextall's been pretty consistent that he wants to see mastery at a level if you don't clearly make the big club. Maybe they just wanted Lindblom to do it for as long as possible in Lehigh Valley before the inevitable injury occurred

That is possible, I just found it odd that they'd rather call up a checker to play 5-6 minutes a night as opposed to moving one of Raffl/Lehtera/etc. to the 4th line to have Lindblom play meaningful top-9 minutes. |

Has anyone ever been to a game in Pitt? My girlfriend and I are trying to get to every stadium in the near future and the only one we looked at that made us nervous about going to was Pittsburgh. We've been to MSG and Prudential and neither were bad other than the few douchers but everything I've heard about Pitt, no matter who the opposing team is, has been bad. - ajw12
I've been twice and all they do is bring up 1975. Other than that they are pussies. |

It's awesome to have him there now, though. The balance on the top two lines is nice to see. If Simmonds and L3 can stay productive, they can score enough to maybe make a run if they can get some saves
I know there are clear weaknesses. But they are so freaking close if they can just get some saves when they need them

Or Weal. This could have been the standard lineup between Christmas and when Simmonds finally got put on IR.
Giroux-Couturier-Konecny
Raffl-Patrick-Voracek
Lindblom-Filppula-Simmonds
Weal-Laughton-Lehtera/Leier/Weise
As it was, they got nothing useful out of forward spots 11 and 12 for a two month period.

Here is a more accurate assessment.
October = Thought him ready (personally I disagreed)
November= not really ready losing confidence
December = clearly not ready confidence lost
January = Get confidence back
February = confidence back
March = Probably ready and spot becomes available. Applies lessons learned and does better. - MBFlyerfan
👍
Coming out of camp I thought Morin outplayed Sanheim and deserved that spot, but oh well |

So, who goes in for Raffl?
I’m guessing Lehterä, but hoping against speedier teams they’ll give Leier a shot. |

I'm fine with Lehtera, just prefer him on the 4th line. |
