Can’t worry about other teams. Just keep winning and the Flyers are in.

Certainly true. But it's real tough to win out with nine games to go. A bit of outside help here and there is always welcomed.

The issue with Manning is he usually makes one major flub in each game that is an eyesore, and that skews a lot of the fan hate towards him. He has the fewest turnovers per games played amongst all the D-men on the team, and his advanced metrics place him around 80 out of the 160 defensemen in the league who have played a good number of minutes this season.

I still think overall this year he has played better than AMac, Gudas, and possibly Hagg, but as long as we keep winning, it is what it is.

- boxcar65

Manning has not played better overall than MacDonald and Hagg. Not even close.

Oh absolutely, but it’s always best to help yourself. I think 95 points or more will get you in so they need at least 10 points in their last 9.

If they win the games that they should win: Rags (2), Carolina, Detroit and the Isles, that’s 10 points right there. Just take care of business and stay focused boys, that’s all I ask.

Manning is a 7th Dman and good guy to step in for a few games, unfortunately he has been playing a top 6 for the Flyers. Hopefully they will just roll with the pairings now. IMO i think Hagg has been solid in his rookie season. I really did not realize he would bring that much of a physical element to his game.

Speaking of the Flyers D, here’s how I’d rank them right now:

1. Provorov
Yeah he’s had a few rough games, but he plays the hardest minutes and sees a ton of time on the PK and almost always against the other teams top pp unit.

2. Ghost
He’s really stepped up and while can still get in a spot where he gets outmuscled at times, he’s greatly improved his D zone play

3. AMac
He has his flaws, but overall he’s playing pretty solid hockey. You also can’t underestimate the calming effect he has on the younger Dmen

4. Sanheim
We are just starting to get a glimpse of how good this kid can be. He is much more calm and poised than he was earlier in the season and his ability to move the puck quickly and accurately is just what this team needs from a guy paired with the more defensive oriented AMac

5. Hagg
He’s had his ups and downs like most rookie D, but he brings a hard hitting, consistent physics element that this team missed when he was out. He’s also a big help to the PK

6. Gudas
He’s played well here and there, but since the suspension, he’s played pretty poorly overall. Hopefully he can pick it up down the stretch and in the playoffs. That being said, if I’m Ron Hextall, I’d be quietly making him available at the draft.

7. Manning
Man is all heart, but he just makes too many mistakes to ever be more than a 6/7 guy. He should only be playing if one of the top 6 is injured.

8. Oduya
He might be better than Manning, but he really struggled in his one game. However once healthy and rested, he could, due to his extensive playoff experience, move ahead of Manning on the depth chart

it really is true. Its nice when teams around them lose, but it's that time of year when you need to elevate your game if you want to not only make the playoffs, but do some damage. Outside of Tbay, no one in the east really worries me....ever one of them are beatable.

1. He’s solid, wouldn’t go as far as real good.

2. Yup, but Hextall wasn’t going to give up on Weise with 3 years left on his deal. That being said, Weise should have been waived and Read called up by the start of the new year.

3. Maybe, but I think a kid like NAK has a good shot of winning a spot next year. However at 900k for one year, you really have nothing to lose, so yeah, I think I would

that's about right...Sad that Macdonald is the third best option, but on this team he is at this point. Gudas had a solid game until the stupid pinch in the 3rd period last night, but there in lies the problem with both him and Macdonald. They both play some solid hockey and then pull a bone head, that leaves you shaking your head.

I think this is a good list and the only switch I would make is Hagg with Sanheim. Right now Hagg is better and he's proven it over the course of the season. His physical play on defense and as you rightly point out his play on the PK has been important for this team.

1) NHL or AHL ? hahahaha....in a limited role he has helped.

2) that's equivalent to if a tree falls in the forest and no ones around....does it make a sound?

3) no. time to move on.

Re: Hagg/Sanheim
Overall for the whole season, Hagg would easily get the nod, but right now, I think Sanheim is edging slightly ahead. Either way both are playing very well for rookie D

Really good list..
Based on this season and not potential I would swap Sanheim and Hagg.

Sanheim numbers
40 GP 7 points -7

Hagg numbers
70 GP 9 points +7 , one of the top hitters in the league this year.

Now if you asked me this based on potential or how I think they play out next year 100% would say Sanheim but right now based off this season I dont see a way to have him before Hagg.

Like I said in my last post, I’m not basing the list on the whole season, it was based on how they are playing right now.

his positioning is really good, he makes little plays that get the puck out, he also has good possession stats, though his skating is not what it was he still skates very well.

I would keep him around at the right price, good example for NAK and gives Hak a quality forward he can use. Yes unlike Weise, cant have those types of players no more

I think they are both playing their game to their strengths....Hagg before his injury and Sanheim, since his recall. Either is interchangeable on your list.

Manning no where close to AMAC and not even hagg. I will be the first in line to call out AMAC but the guy has done more than I expected he could, O my I cant believe I am going to say this, he has earned his 5 mil this season, great signing homer.

yes Manning makes the mistake more than others, he gets hemmed in too much, and I believe he makes his D partner compensate.

It is about what the extra they bring...

Hagg hits hard and has an edge, the hitting supports the edge
Sanheim has the O upside, where he can make a mistake, he can use his skill make a play and get the puck out. He also creates O with his skating and O instincts

either way they both have upside and Manning is a real 7th D

in this league, mistakes happen, why I think the D have to have bring a little somehting more. I rather have the upside then steady eddie.

Gudas was better yesterday but his pinch that created the 2-1 andled to the second goal was a terrible decision, just no need to do that up 4-1 in the 3rd. I hope he continues to play better
