I can't believe they are bringing back Matthews and Andersen for Tuesday. What's the rush?? Let McBackup play in Tampa and in Nashville. Then bring back Freddy and Matthews at home Saturday night for the stretch run. I don't get it at all.
- Matthews_Auston

umm.. maybe they're back to 100%?

perhaps..

You act like they might die if they play a game they've been playing all their life.

What i don't get is why you think its wise to sit your two best players when they are healthy.

Exactly. Dafuq is he talking about?

“What’s the rush?”

I agree with you. Even if Andersen was healthy, he shouldn't be playing much considering how much he's already played this year and how well McElhinney has been playing. They can't move up or down anyway so the points don't matter. Matthews is a bit different just because he's been out longer but these are two guys you need to be as close to 100% as you can get if you want any kind of hope in the playoffs.

Come on now man. This is progress.

UG is now suggesting there is room for hope in the playoffs with Andersen and Matthews rested and healthy. Considering his previous stance that we had no chance to defeat the 2011 Bruins and could only hope to lose in either 6 games or 7 games, this is a huge increase in optimism.

He suggested there's hope! He's saying there's a chance!

We certainly could still move ahead of Boston in the standings. 8 of 12 remaining games are against teams fighting for playoff spots. They won't be easy. Especially if they still have a bit of injury problems (most should be back soon).

Let's see what happens!

How do YOU know they arent at 100%?
We are 6th in the league in points....we have at least 2-3 "hopes" in the playoffs.
True, they cannot move up or down in the standings, but who is to say Andersen comes back to get a couple of games under his belt and then his rested for a couple?
Or
Maybe he likes the workload....maybe he needs it to stay sharp?

And JT will ease the pain of losing JVR.
- bobbyisno1

Seguin will ease the pain and not really trying hard to sign JT....for those fans who really wanted JT.

I think if the Leafs can get another W, they'll be officially welcomed to the playoffs.

If they don't sign JT, I'm pretty sure they'll resign JVR, so I doubt there will be room for Seguin.

You or me have no (frank)ing clue where these NHL players are physically or mentally. So I think guessing is a huge waste of time.

Agreed, like I just said. People need to stop this thinking that they know where a player is with injuries and fatigue. We don't know this. And we never will. Let the coaching staff and the players decide this, we have no idea

Not if the plan is to go after seguin.
The starting line up next season might not be as strong as it is today.
Maybe.

Considering its known that Andersen plays better when he sees more pucks. I'll go with the latter!
