I can see it now.... When they choke away a playoff spot, which they had an 11 point lead, we are going to hear the bubble team/future is bright horsepoop.

Spin an epic collapse into pseudo optimism.

I don't think we are making playoffs at this point Florida with games in hand is red hot it's likely devils or flyers miss and who is playing better ?

Looks like we will have 2 picks 11 to 16.

My frustration is everyone got hyped up when we beat bad teams and crowned hak coach of the year. We are now playing good teams and losing winnable games due to system break downs, coming out slow, lazy defense, bad mistakes, etc. We knew we were a bubble team and that's right where we are.

The pros are lindblom Patrick sanheim tk provy gost continue to be some our best players down the stretch run. I love that part. The cons are some our worst players on this stretch are our vets. We need to change the bottom 6 faces drastically next year and especially our bottom pairing on d.

- Tfaehner

what Florida does doesn't really matter to the Flyers as much as just trying to stay ahead of one or both (for the 3rd spot) of Columbus and NJ.

The only downside to moving G to wing is that this team now sorely needs a 3C. Are any of the center prospects ready to step up next year? I'm not sure. I suppose they should run with Laughton in that spot to start next year and go from there.

And to echo others I suspect some shakeup to the bottom 6 this off-season. They're just not cutting it, be it at even strength or on the PK. It's not like the bottom 6 is even full of rookies. They're vets. No excuses.

- hereticpride

I have no idea if laughton can handle the 3C role, however, I will say the 3rd line looked better last night after laughton and Filppula switched

Question: Without looking it up, can you tell me what player has played the 4th most games as a Flyer?
- jmatchett383

This is actually an excellent bar trivia question and frankly, the answer makes a lot of sense if you thought back on the guy's career.

I mean that pairing lol. I was amazed Hakstol kept tossing em on the ice in the 3rd. Dumbfounded.
- Pixote Andolini

After the Flyers cut the CBJ lead to 2-1, out game Filppula's line with Gudas/Manning. they promptly let in a goal. I blame Gudas for the turnover and Manning for being out of position to recover but still.....how often has that happened when those 5 are out after a goal for whether its been just being hemmed in their zone or giving up a goal? When the flyers scored later in the game Hakstol put Giroux's line out and they followed with keeping the puck in the Offensive zone. About god damn time.

Filppula did a good job early in the season but his play has fallen off a cliff. I was happy to see Hakstol switch him and Laughton later in the game. the adjustments just come too slow

The player in question (don't want to spoil it for folks) never had that one injury where he missed large chunks of games.

Only thing I recall about the player in question was maybe a bad back that kept him out of games. I don't recall any major knee surgery or anything like that.

He was fairly durable, given how he played.

Saturday G gets two points and moves into 5th place all by himself, the Flyers get the win, and the Clown goes back into witness protection.

Triple book it!!

What's Mrazek's save % with the Flyers? It better not be an inept sub .900

Lyon is probably the starter now. He's not an NHL goaltender. They have next to zero secondary scoring, and pretty much one defensive pairing. Not a great recipe. The schedule gets easier but the same issues exist. I don't know how anyone can rationalize how Lapperiere is still running this tire fire PK. They've been at the bottom of the NHL under his tenure, yet he remains. What's the definition of insanity? Repeating the same thing, and expecting a different result.

I don't understand why you don't just go root for NJ. I don't believe you are a Flyers fan because you only show up when they play bad. you seem to revel in it. when they play well.....crickets. No one says an organization is not open to be criticized. Management is not open to it, coaches and players as well but you just seem to be so happy when things are bad and silent when good.

this team seems to run either hot or cold, very streaky. So if they collapse and miss the playoff is Hak's job on the line? Most gave him credit when the team seemed to turn things around, now that it seems to be slipping away he needs to take some of the blame.

I wouldn't mind seeing Lyon get some more work. Mrazek has not been the answer in goal that we have been looking for.

I wish I had a nickel for every time the announcers said "Once again the Flyers fail to clear the puck out of their zone".

Patience

Easy to say, hard to do

By 19-20, all of the following will definitely or probably be long gone

Neuvirth
One or both of Mrazek/Elliott
Manning
One of Gudas/AMac
Filppula
Lehterä
Weise
Read
Raffl
Leier
Weal
Simmonds

The following should be here:
Hart
Morin
Myers
Frost
Rubtsov
Allison

And possibly
Vorobyev
Laczynski
Vecchione
Ratcliffe

I’ll be disappointed if they miss the playoffs but it’s not the end of the world. I do think they need to get in next season and if not, it will be time for a coaching change. I also think that by 19-20 they will be good enough to win a round or 2 and that they will be a top contender by 20-21. I like what Hextall is building, but I’m not fully sold on Hak yet. That being said, no matter what happens this season (barring a complete 1-9-1 collapse) I’d bring him back next season. However someone new needs to be brought in to replace Lappy to coach the PK. Enough is enough.

I honestly don't think , outside of most of us here, Giroux gets enough credit for what he is doing this year.

He is the still the heart of this team.

to me he is their best player...hands down.

Very few here have the discipline to succeed at that task.
