Another excellent summary Bill.

I had really two, maybe biased take aways from the game:

1. Mrazek was only truly to blame for the 4th goal. There was one other that he might have had on a good night...but really only the 4th goal. And he owned it. He came right out and said they needed that save and he didn't make it. It was clear he was leaning to play the pass and that was also why that shot was taken...Not in love with how he played in that game but really respect how he responded afterwards.

2. The Flyers need help on the blue line long term. Manning and Gudas and AMac are killing them. Yes, AMac scores a clutch goal, but he is also a turnover machine. Gudas and Manning who are supposed to be the rugged in the trenches players both got out muscled and positioned on goals.

They really need to be confident Morin can come up next year or I want to see them address the need for a big defensive defensemen in this draft. I love that we have so many D men with offensive upside but I can't help feel that the team is missing that guy that just washes out plays at his blueline, clears the porch and allows his partner to take a few more offensive chances.

I can't help but feel like that's a big thing missing from the PK.

I try to find a way to sit Hagg for the rest of the regular season. Let Sanheim play out the string and get to the playoffs when you probably should rotate the two this year. Then next year you've got

Prov-Ghost
Hagg-AMac
Sanheim-Gudas

I'd try to remove one of AMac or Gudas and not resign Manning then you have space for two kids. Hoping for Morin and Myers

I have no idea what to make of this team right now and neither, apparently, does anyone else.

Mrazek is perfect for this team. He's either pretty good or pretty terrible. Perfect fit.

I missed the beginning of the game, but did Hakstol switch Filppula and Laughton?
- YuenglingJagr

By ice time at 5v5 I'd say Laughton was 3c last night

Need to find a way to get a useful third line. Also, need to mix up the D pairings to find a useful second pairing. Also would be nice to get a save here and there.

Not going to call out specific players. They know who they are.

- mickel25

I actually have liked amac and sanheim for the most part. Sanheim seems comfortable out there with him.

I think hagg could help gudas as well. That would be a more shutdown pairing.

Neither are ideal 2nd pairing it's more like 3a and 3b at the moment but I think that's our best chance for stability. Gudas manning been bad for it feels like months now

I don't like how small we are up and down the lineup. Simmer hasn't been his usually force since coming back from injury. Lehtera has honestly been one our strongest positioning and puck battle forwards atm which is just bad. I know we have more size coming and I don't want to over state how necessary it is cause it's not end all be all. But we're not fast enough to just be small and not big enough to grind out wins. Need a better balance imo

I was not happy post game when G was asked about this teams inconsistency and he pretty much didn't have an answer of what to try to fix it.

Yeah I saw that, but I am more concerned about who he is playing with and against...I just noticed him with Simmonds and Raffl at the end of the game, but then like Lehtera would jump on so it was difficult to tell. It looks like he did switch them from what I see

The bottom six needs to be revamped. I would keep Raffl and Laughton and trade/buyout/AHL the rest. If they get a talented center maybe Weal would work as well. Other than that they all can go. Should have a few guys to fill from within. Maybe trade for a specific player. Don't care how it is done just needs to be done.

Bottom 6 next season of

12-21-new forward from trade or 17

It seemed to me most of his shifts were with Simmer and Raffl then line 4 would follow which was why probably it was tough to see which was which.

in his defense, I don't think it would've been a good idea to say get rid of the garbage

I will admit they don't have a lot of options. I do want Sanheim to stay and I also would like Hagg back in the lineup when/if he returns. Should we try Gudas/MacDonald? Veterans playing together. Sanheim/Hagg when he is back. Again, not a lot of options.

Gudas is barely an NHL player.
Biggest injuries this year may well be Stolarz and Morin.

But I keep getting told Simmonds isn't a 3rd liner on this team...

Truth hurts but this team has been inconsistent for years. I'm starting to really think we need to lose one of G, Jake, Simmonds, Coots. It's their locker room they need to figure that poop out.

I had two options last night:

A) Deal with screaming one-month-old baby
B) Watch the Flyers play

I didn't feel like being too stressed out, so I went with Option A.

it would be cool, but a "checking" 4th line seems to be a team/organ-I-zational philosophy. Maybe one day there will just be too many good players to have anything but a skilled 4th line, but a traditional 4th line appears to be by design

If they use your listed pairs Gudas/Mac is pair 2 in ice time... NO THANKS

The best thing about Mrazek is that he's only going to cost the Flyers a 4th thanks to this disastrous choke job which will see them miss out on a playoff spot to a Florida team they were 14 points ahead of at the start of March.

You have way more faith than I do. They're in a St. Louis style freefall right now, and I don't see them coming out of it any time soon.

Granted, I didn't watch most of last night as a matter of principle, but from the previous 8 games, and even the back-end of the 10-0-2 streak, they just haven't looked good enough to beat anything but bottom feeders with any sort of consistency.
