He's old, he's overpaid and he was a stupid signing that's going to make it damn near impossible to keep a younger, more productive player. That's not hard to comprehend.

It's not an automatic that he just gets traded away that easily. Full NMC with a significant cap hit. Not a lot of teams jumping at that one just because you want it to be true.

I disagree. I've always believed that final season was a dummy season. There will be a team that is rebuilding that needs to reach the cap floor.

I said, if they sign Taveras they can't re-sign JVR either way.
JVR's contract will eat into the cap space long after Marleau's, making it that much harder to sign Willy, Marner and Mathews.

Looking at that at if Marleau does retire it could be done wth JVR also.
Marner will only make 895 and Mathews will only make 925 next year.

tavares will sign with either NJ or Vegas
