I consider last night a win-win for Islanders fans. Penguins lose in hilariously-embarrassing fashion and the Rangers hurt their chances at a good draft position.

yep, really was a bad win for the Rangers last night

I am not going to call the Rangers stupid for winning because there is no way to stop players from playing hard, especially the young guys, just a very unfortunate win.

I think the reason that I have a hard time watching these games right now is because it's impossible for me to not root for the team, but then they score a goal, and I find my reaction to be "poop, don't win!"

I thought it was a great win! These young guys, and even the vets who have recently had their professional lives turned upside-down, must feel great about it! And that is more important to me than which guy that has a 12% chance of being really good we select in June.
We lose, all good. We win, that's what I always want anyway.

I always just root for the young guys to play well and am indifferent on the outcome. If they play well, great...my favorite team won. If they suck ass and lose, oh well...at least it benefits draft position.

I have far too much experience with these emotions

To add some random thoughts from last night:

Pionk is grabbing this chance to play with both hands and he is looking better and better the more he plays

Georgie got the experience of his young career stopping a penalty shot against MALKIN with the game on the line. Could be a turning point in his career, great to see him grow

Watching and listening to NYR "superfan" Sarandon last night was like viewing Napoleon Dynamite for the first time--- so bad it was funny, and you couldn't look away. I guess Dancing Larry wasn't available...

Believe me, I want the highest pick possible, I really do. But, I still think you can draft good players between 10-15 if that is the worst case scenario.

I haven't been able to view any of Miss Sarandon's work. The video feeds on NHL.com are not working. Maybe she was just that bad!

I just wanted an exciting game, so when they tied it up at 2 late in the 3rd I was happy. But immediately after that goal, I said to my roommate that the Pens can now go ahead and win this game. What an emotional roller coaster these games have become.

Pionk has looked good defensively and putting up pretty decent points while doing so. Going to be interesting who we keep for next year but McKenzie said expect the Rangers to be active continuing what they did at the deadline, expects them to sign Kovy and 1 or 2 other veterans to remain competitive while they rebuild.

Will try and cover that in tomorrow's blog, thought it would be piling on in this one. But in line what we discussed at and after the deadline.

Something about the Pens. I wouldn't care if that win dropped us from the #1 pick, I would still be happy.

I do think that this rebuild is going to be a hybrid. They just acquired a crap ton of picks and prospects (this year and last), they will replenish their prospect base, they won't dip into the trade market yet where they are giving up prospects for established players, but they will be relatively active in free agency to say competitive.

The Rangers aren't tanking next year. I just don't see that.

Tampa wins the Cup this year and has major Cup hangover and misses playoffs like they did last year
