Listen, for the low, low cost of "nothing" I would be happy to give you Clutterbuck and his four-more-years-at-$3.5M-cap-hit - eichiefs9
I (frank)ing can't stand him. The only way I would do it is if I could throw him in a wood chipper, set his remains on fire and then piss on the ashes.

Be my guest, I'll help you stuff his body in the machine
Yup..see how his ankle is during next season and go after him as a UFA if its deemed he's OK....Why bother giving up ton of prospects, draft picks for a guy you can sign in offseason...especially when you are the NYR and always have a head up on the competition in Free agency simply b/c you play in NYC

if they had traded JT, what do you think they woulda got back? - mrn22
Honestly, I don't even know. Everyone tends to overrate their own players and I think it would have mattered what team they were trading him to. A team like the Sharks has absolutely nothing I would be interested in that they would realistically part with. No prospects, expected later draft picks, no great young roster players. Plus, he'd have control over where he went since he has a NMC.
But if you put a gun to my head...for Tavares with a full year on his deal..something like two firsts, a second, a blue chip prospect, and a cost-controlled young roster player with top-6/top-4 potential.
Oh yeah. And Clutterbuck should have done something similar. I have a big problem with players going after another players genitals with a stick. - mdw7413
I don’t disagree. But, I also have a big problem with guys throwing a dirty hit and then skating around smiling in a crowd of opponents because they know no one can do anything about it. Loved seeing this idiot’s poop eating grin wiped off his face.

definitely, I wonder what team would have been the one
I guess Toronto is obvious and they would 't have traded for Plekanec - jimbo83
Yeah, I was trying to think what playoff team would have the pieces to do it. That would be the one problem with dealing JT at the TDL. Only a select few teams, but agreed Toronto would have been the likely scenario.

I mean I get it, but I think the jewels should be off limits. Imo.

No doubt. That hit was classic Wilson.
Don't agree with the type of retaliation, but glad someone did something about it.
