I think it's mostly the starting and stopping with his health situation. It's hard to improve your game when you aren't playing. Look at Labeberge... who knows where he'd be without his health issues. Today he's fighting for an entry level deal. I'd be hard pressed to sign either of them today if I was forced to decide. - mayorofangrytown

If he was playing like he was at the start of the season I'd be pretty happy. The problem is he's not... and it's not close. |

I would have split the first line when Coots goals started drying up but it's too late for that now. I'd give Vecs a recall and see if he can't do more with that spot. |

At minimum, I just want to best Pittsburgh and gain home ice advantage in the playoffs. I can't remember the last time we gained home ice heading into the playoffs. |

If it were up to me Giroux will never play center again.

He's the only signing I missed. Oh well, I do think I remember reading in a season preview that he was looking to impress to get a contract. After that I didn't really hear anything.
Good to know.
Oh and Happy Birthday to you! |

I understand why but he was a damn good center for 9 years and we're short of those this season.
With more than a dozen games left I would make the Veccione move just to make sure I was doing everything I could. |

Vorobyev is doing very well in Lehigh as well. He's got 3/4C potential and his celly game is on point. |

If they were to get Pitt in the playoffs they would have to, in my mind, move G back to center just to be able to match up better against Crosby, Malkin, and Brassard down the middle. I don't think they'd have the slightest chance without that move even then it'd be tough. |

I am confident in Raffl's ability to get caved in and scored on at a Filppula level in a shutdown center role as well. |

I think you could go Crosby/Couts, Malkin/Patrick Laughton/Brassard, but my lineup would be tweaked a bit.

I know people might not like seeing Simmonds on that '4th' line.

I really think the answer is already on the roster in Laughton. He at least could be tried there this year, that way we could have a better idea of what would be required to upgrade the roster going forward. |

I wouldn't be opposed to that but I just don't know how I feel about matching Patrick up with Malkin. My only problem with moving G to center is who goes to LW1?

Yep, just pointing out that I think there are 3 options that would be better than Filppula as a shutdown center on this current roster |

needless to say, they desperately need points out of this one. If they go 0 for the weekend I think we're in serious trouble re: making the playoffs. However, I think they win all 3 games. |
