Lyon will backstop them to the playoffs. He's the stater now.

Not Elliott. not Neuvirth, not Stolarz, not the guy Hextall traded for.....

Those conditional picks keeps Hex awake at night not the wannabe HASEK subpar performance 🤮

seriously. i dont understand how people are viewing missing the playoffs as a remote possibility at this point.

I have to look on the Hackstol streaking formula but I do not think Flyers can afford to reach 10 before the tide turns.

The rebuild will continue this year with the selection of two mid round firsts inevitably adding to the stable of two way centers etc. Legitimate contention will arrive in 2021-2022 simultaneous with the maturing of Provorov, Sanheim, Morin, Haag and the breakout years of Patrick, Frost and Hart.

Um because the panthers are 4 points behind them and playing very good and the flyers can't win.

They haven’t even been in position to have late season “big collapses” under Hakstol. What are you talking about?

That’s a losing streak in the middle of the season, not a collapse.

This game had loss written all over it. The lucky MacDonald goal kind of made it feel closer than it really was. The Flyers had some attempts in the beginning of the 3rd period but mostly the Jackets easily trapped them out in the neutral zone and kept them safely at bay on the perimeter. There were long stretches where the Flyers could only hope to flip the puck out of the zone. Horrible possession stats. Not sure why Gudas keeps getting ice time. Columbus is a better team even with their goalie not quite himself.

One change that Hakstol has made this year is, allowing Voracek and Gostisbehere switch places on the Power Play as Voracek plays the top of the umbrella and Ghost on the half wall. In my mind this is a disadvantage which showed at the end of the game with the goalie pulled. Voracek doesn't have a strong point shot. If you want Ghost on the half wall, than you might want to have Provorov over Konecny in those dying minutes. I like Voracek more downlow with soft hands making plays.

Disappointing loss. Bad defense early.

I feel the story of the new direction of this franchise is the example of Jordan Weal's contract. Last season he looks like a good scorer. You resign him to as little as possible (1.2 million, right?). You trade Schenn who is a proven point producer. Now you're on the verge of giving up Simmonds, which makes us less competitive. I really hope Hextall knows what he's doing because there has been a lot of high's and low's this season and not the fun kind. Morgan Frost looks like a really nice player. I sure hope he will be. Flyers need help much sooner than later.

Blame Mrazek all you want. Our team defense is garbage. A good team could have a single hard boiled egg in net and still dominate another team. We're far from that.

Ok so you'd give a 3rd line wing and PP2 guy next year 6 years at 6 million? If not the better business decision is to get assets.

In a normal year when he is healthy, which I beleive is the case with Simmonds, he is far more than a 3rd line winger.

If he can get healthy and get back to being a 30-30 guy, that's not a 3rd line winger.
