Debrusk, Krug and Chara all left the Bruins game with injuries. They are getting banged up, gonna limp into the playoffs.
- Zezel

Excellent. I won't mind one bit if we defeat an injury riddled Bruins team in the playoffs. The victory will still be just as sweet.

Injuries happen. You can only stockpile extra players, ie. Johnson, Moore, Leivo, Martin, and hope your most important guys aren't the ones that get hurt. We can deal with a few forwards getting injured this year, I just hope nothing happens to Andersen or our best defenders.

Who has played a grand total of 6 games in North America. Probably going to take more time than that.
- Unholy_Goalie

how many games did Komarov play in North America before he joined the Leafs?
how many games did Zaitsev play in North America before he joined the Leafs?

I won't continue ... this is too easy.

They weren't 20. And both had significant time pass before they fully adjusted to the differences in the game. Expecting Grundstrom to just walk onto to the Leafs and the NHL at 20 and be effective for 82 games is extremely optimistic. Probably spends at least one season with the Marlies.

yup... lest we forget the most recent playoff loss to the Bruins. During that series the Leafs were banged up... I believe Bozak (who was the 1st line center) missed the last 2 games of that series. Mark Fraser had the bad head injury - and was a major factor physically in that series going up against guys like Lucic, etc.

Blocked a shot on net with his arm. Unintentional or not, that's a PK.

Yeah, there is a difference from being in your mid 20's playing in the KHL for several years and being a 20 year old playing in the SHL. The SHL is a good league, but it's not as good as the KHL.

How many of us thought it a joke that a 26 year old Panarin won the Calder as a supposed rookie after playing like 6 years or so in the K? Komarov was a rookie as much as Panarin was a rookie when coming to the NHL. Grundstrom is a different situation entirely.

Maybe he'll make an immediate jump to the NHL and be great, but I wouldn't count on it.

Our team is soooo much better this year than that previous year.
We actually deserve to be in the playoffs, rather than only making it because it was a lockout shortened year and it prevented our team from having the yearly second half collapse, due to not really having a second half.

If our team is mostly healthy, I think we've got a decent chance against the Bruins, Tampa worries me a bit more, but even they are beatable. Fun time for Leafs fans.

That's why giving a guy like Teemu Hartikainen might be worth a shot. He played in the NHL and the AHL at a young age, spent a few years in the KHL, put up good numbers and maybe he's ready for another shot. The way he stands in front of the net on the PP, he could replace JVR to a degree and he's got enough grit in his game that he could replace Komarov as a 4th liner 5 on 5.

But Grundstrom, making the jump at 20, would be a small miracle. They put Johnsson in the minors for almost two full years before he got his call-up. It's not an easy transition to make at all, especially at that age. And to play 82 games, that's another adjustment in itself. Borgman hit a wall after half a season.

Who are the Leafs? What is it like to watch them?

Honestly don't remember because of this insane NHL schedule. Long periods off for no apparent reason. I guess its good at this point with Matthews injured and guys with the flu? Still would like to watch my team more often then once every 2 weeks...

I have tickets for Belleville Sens versus the Marlies on Friday. Lou, please send Johnson back down for Friday and maybe Matthews for a conditioning stint...

It's not the number of shots that matter, it's the quality of the shots, and the Leafs don't give up as many shots from quality areas as people think.

That I can agree with, the old school way of thinking that any shot is a scoring opportunity is dead... Goalies are too well-conditioned nowadays..

Hipster gulls. The most annoying type of gull.
