the plan is too trick all the other teams into thinking that the Leafs only want Tavares.. Then once they have everyone convinced, the pull off the ultimate blindside and get Adam Larsson from Edmonton for the UFA rights to Dominic Moore..

Then, in a week or two, we can all recount the story of how Peter Chiarelli turned Taylor Hall into Dominic Moore..

I like JT but do not see him as a captain or a number one C. I think the Isles will grossly overpay and be kicking themselves in 3 years. JT looks tired and slow and although you can work on your game in the off season, you can't learn to skate at his age. I would happily unload him for the right package. It is just bad timing with where the Isles are, how old he is and the term of what he will get, and the new arena being ready. If a new GM and entirely new management team was to come in, they would love a ton of picks to build the team correctly around Barzal, Beau, Lee, Bailey, Eberle, Pulock, Toews, and Aho. They would be competitive by the time they moved in to the new building.

Kings will trade Doughty since he likely won't be a King when his UFA time comes. Go for picks and top prospects for him. Try and trade Brown. Sign Tavares. Put Carter and Toffoli on Tavares' line. Kopitar, Iaffalo and Pearson on another line and BAM. A nice top 6 with cap space to spare to add another defender and/or revamp the 3rd/4th line some. As well as an up and coming star in Gabriel Vilardi although he plays center but maybe he can move to wing when ready and the Kings can trade Carter for picks or prospects which will make the Kings younger but still have the skill. They also should have kept Jones and traded Quick instead due to Quick's contract and injury history.
