I think SanHeim knows he will earn it, I think he knew he had to fix some of his game and is pretty clear on what is expected. There is 1 more part, who makes the team better? All D make mistakes, look at Manning . If it is clear that Sanheim gives them a better chance to win, mistakes and all, he will play.

Absolutely. Small one game sample but Sanheim looked like a different player. If he continues to play like that he should remain in the lineup. He kept his game simple and played within himself.

I really hope that Sanheim and AMac click as a good, solid 2nd pair and when Hägg gets healthy we see:

Provy-Ghost
Sanheim-AMac
Hägg-Gudas

Manning is all heart, but he just lacks the overall hockey sense and the ability to make those quick decisions with the puck on his stick that separates journeymen from NHL regulars. The above 6 IMO, give them the best chance to win on a consistent basis. And if Hägg struggles, which he has at times in the 2nd half of the season, at least you still have a guy like Manning that can step in for him when needed. Oduya can slot in at 8th on the depth chart which is probably where he should be at this stage in his career. He is also a good, experienced voice to have on the team at this time of year too.

I am not worried about him earning it, but I do think Hakstol will still rely on Manning without good reason.

Sanheim isn't going to just stop making mistakes suddenly. He was still making mistakes in the AHL just a couple weeks ago. He just has a much more positive effect on the game than that one mistake. I think he will make it more obvious to the naysayers soon too. I am certain it will be another story of immaculate development at the AHL level even though he was already good enough for the NHL and has continued to play the way he played all year (between both leagues)

Well if he continues to play the way he did in his previous stint with the Flyers then he won't earn it, and the coach will continue to either limit his minutes or keep him out of the lineup altogether. Nobody is expecting Sanheim to play mistake free hockey, so the comment that he isn't going to stop making mistakes suddenly doesn't make any sense. You seem to want to float the narrative that his time in the AHL after being sent down wasn't helpful and didn't help the player improve and that it was just organizational incompetence that kept the obviously better player out of the lineup. Those who made an honest, informed and non biased assessment of his play will know better.

Mistakes and turnovers happen all the time , that is Hockey. After watching the Jets game which had a playoff atmosphere felt that it was by far Sanheims best game all year. He had less ice but looked very solid compared to his first stint. He had one shakey shift but every D man has that. If he can continue to play like that they will make room for him to play, it has nothing to do with vet it has everything to do with playing the right way. Provy isn’t a vet but he plays like one, hope Sanheim stays home not try and be a Rover and his exxcellent offensive skills will look after the offence just by being responsible defensively. As far as people saying he was the best D man on the ice Sat, completely disagree , he was good , actually 1st time this year that I thought he was good through a whole game not glimpses of a shift here and there.Always shows the potential hopefully he can put two games back to back. Believe that’s what Hak talks about when he mentions Vet presence.
