I still hire Neil Smith today over Garth and a lot of other GM's.

When Garth is fired, I'd still want nothing to do with Neil Smith.

Because they were winning, pure and simple and their inexperience blinded them to what would happen when the scoring stopped.
Playing and coaching are 2 different things. Ask Wayne Gretzky. Knowing what’s wrong is the easy part, it’s having the answers to fix it and then the toughest of all getting your team to buy in and believing in it. Some of the best coaches weren’t the best players we all know that, but the best coaches know how to get through to their players.

My opinion and as always... you know.

This is true 7, but Doug should have known the Isles could not get away with that lousy D for long. I guess the fans on this Blog are smart cookies?

That's fine. I would hire Lombardi over Smith right now.

We can only hope that L and M are interviewing candidates for Snows job and that he’s fired by seasons end Jimmy.
I can’t believe that they would let this mediocrity and really failure to continue under Snow.

I am so beaten down by this team that I don't expect any changes. We've said so many times that management has to do something and it never happened. There have been so many times that it felt like the breaking point and yet here we are with this incompetent fraud still running the show. I will not be the least bit surprised if nothing happens over the summer.

I would be thrilled if he gets another opportunity - as long as its not with the Isles.

Let's hire Lombardi and Smith and have a dream team front office.

If someone else hires him that’s their problem and he wouldn’t be running the Islanders so let them go for it!

Have to think if Lombardi would even consider coming here he would only come with complete control of building the hockeyside of the team.

Whether that means he comes as POHO or FM or both he would want complete control in hiring all
Of his staff.

That said I would give him a blank check and tell him the team is yours to run Dean, welcome aboard.

When Snow gets fired, he'll go on a mental breakdown of being unemployed for the first time in 12 years that he'll OD. Calling it.

He won't be fired. Best hope he gets promoted to a non management position.

Speaking of GMs and coaching, just this L and M had George McPhee on their payroll with the Islanders and Gallant was fired by the Panthers.
Both found positions with LVGK and look at the success that team has found under their control. Pretty impressive for an expansion team that wasn’t supposed to sniff the POs.

Crazy thing is McPhee was with the Caps when Ledecky was part of the ownership there.

I'm giving more credit to McPhee with keeping Gallant(who was never going to come here. He wanted Vegas right away), but not for the roster when it was wide open for the taking.

The roster is a group of misfits and players that other teams didn’t want.

That being said they both have done an incredible job, with success never seen by an expansion team before.
Both get kudos for the success of The LVGK imho.

Edit: we will never know whether Gallant would have come here because he was never asked.
