But this is a bracket about snows biggest mistakes
- Upstate_isles

I agree DP was all Wang. Garth has more than enough mistakes so no need to give him this one.

If Isles do not beat Calgary tomorrow this losing streak could reach epic numbers given who the Isles play their next four games.

Dp was a Wang decision not Garth so it shouldn't count in this
- Upstate_isles

Garth agreed with Wang and the others bolted. I pin it on his ass 100% with all the other stupid contracts he’s given out.

Dougie is perplexed imho to say the least here lately.
He took over last year the team responded, (which happens typically with a coaching change) and it continued with a hot start to this season.
The staff instead of looking at the whole picture on the ice were happy with the wins but in my opinion were blinded by the offensive abilities this team had and did not address the lack of defensive structure, awareness or desire.
An experienced coach would have seen the deficiencies on defense this team had reguardless of the wins, and addressed it before the losing started.
Now that the bottom dropped out they are scrambling to try and address the problem that most PO bound teams by this time of the year have adderessed. They have tightened up defensively and are gearing up to tighter, grittier P.O. type hockey. This staff right now do not have the answers because they know what’s wrong and don’t know how to fix it. They are inexperienced and unfortunately are in the best league in the world against the best teams with the best coaching and management staffs in the world. Keeping one of your best shootout players on the bench because of a turnover when your team is in grave need for points it shows me he’s given up or has totally lost focus on the job at hand.
At the end of the day Garth Snow once again is the most at blame here.
Another failure in the reign of Garth Snow.

Hickey literally passes the puck to the other team and not a word is said. Barzal turns it over and is benched. Why was I cursed to be a fan of this team?

Many of us mentioned the problems with the defense before the de Hann and Boychuk injuries. How can coaches not see the issue? Doug does not have a lot of coaching experience but he played hockey many years and won a Cup and should have been able to recognize the problems with the system fans were able to pick up on it. Doug never picked up things from all the coaches he played for?

I keep hoping but doubt it. More likely Garth fires Weight and just replaces him with another minor league coach with no previous NHL coaching experience.

Meh, this is a contest about Garth madness. Garth was barely on the job when former majority owner Charles Wang came up with the idea for that 15-year contract for DP. Garth has made enough dumb decisions by himself that I would give the nod to one of those over a decision by The Committee.
- JohnScammo

The dumb decision was by Mike Milbury. Drafting DP in the first place when we actually had a possible franchise goaltender. Roberto Luongo. Had Mike just kept Roberto and used the number #1 pick on the best available forward the whole course of the Isles might have been changed.

Tbh, I think Hickey has been the best defenseman on the team the last 10 games or so. Let the comments come. This in it self shows how bad the Islanders are on the defensive side of the puck and how thin the blue line is with 4 rookies starting.
He’s a plus 15 on this disaster of a defensive team. How in world does he do that?
Someone needs to explain it to me or better yet, Leddy and the rest of the d man that are all minus.
I also think that Pulock has looked and played the best with Hickey as a partner.

This outta get a rise on this thread and get some more hits for Noel.

Because they were winning, pure and simple and their inexperience blinded them to what would happen when the scoring stopped.
Playing and coaching are 2 different things. Ask Wayne Gretzky. Knowing what’s wrong is the easy part, it’s having the answers to fix it and then the toughest of all getting your team to buy in and believing in it. Some of the best coaches weren’t the best players we all know that, but the best coaches know how to get through to their players.

My opinion and as always... you know.

Hey Cupcake,

I saw yesterday that Ladd was on Barzal and Ebs line in practice.

Now I’m not watching either. Nothing like phucking up you best line by throwing an anchor on it

Just think how costly that DP contract was. Isles ended up losing Neil Smith and Patty because of that contract.

PA??? I was talking about DP's 15-year contract, not PA. Mishandling PA was small potatoes, compared to his mishandling of Nino.......or even Grabner.
- JohnScammo

I know. I was just pointing it out for the hell of it. I don't even think PA should've been signed. Should've stuck with the BLT line right at the start of the year. But nope, let's put Chimera and Ladd as JT's line mates at the regular season opener against our arch rival, Cappy!

I get that DM, but for me Snow doesn’t belong in the same sentence as Smith imho.

Just fire him and get Paul Fenton as GM and Kevin Dineen as HC, and all will be better.

We can only hope that L and M are interviewing candidates for Snows job and that he’s fired by seasons end Jimmy.
I can’t believe that they would let this mediocrity and really failure to continue under Snow.
