But if you word it like this it sounds different.

31st place team makes the playoffs the next year and takes the president trophy winners to 5 OT's.

This year the Leafs hit 40 wins 13 games sooner than last year. Something to think about.

How so?

Leaves tank to pick high & bingo get a real good player at #1 + the other high picks et voila all of a sudden not so poopty. Good management by selling assets to grab picks - intelligent tanking.

You're being so self indulgent with the talent in your team you can't see what is actually happening. Your team is good. Your D is suspect & goalie like others can fall on his face at times. Matthews is certainly a very high end talent, along with others. Hell I'd even say Winnipeg would probably beat you guys in 7. How have they been travelling in the past few years & Laine might actually take home the goal scoring title! See when I put it this way......

leafs fans are real saints apparently. Every 5th or 6th comment, impressive

Yes I think he forgets what he comments. He is a Leaves fan though - some of those masturbate to Matthews look-a-likes.

I've never seen someone so triggered on a pens thread. Maybe bobd62 but he's delusional. Hopefully he finds his safe space and can learn some class rather than live the troll life

Freddy literally never "falls on his face", so that's error number 1

It wasnt just draft Matthews and "Voila", it was draft Kadri, Rielly, Nylander, Marner, Dermott. (Liljegren I'll throw in next year).. They've been drafting well for 7 years now.

Sure Winnipeg could beat the Leafs, why not? They're a top 5 team in the league.

Malkin keeps his Rocket and Ross hopes alive with a one goal, two points game!
- Victoro311

He's facing stiff competish from Laine who's been hawt the last few games; I see him as Geno's primary threat. Kuch looks like he's slowed down a bit. 20-30 games ago, I would have through he was the runaway Ross winner.

Triggered? Huh?

Is that what you call someone who you can't keep up with?

Pens schedule must have been made last minute

We just played a b2b, get 2 days off, play another b2b then 4days off followed by yet another b2b.

Andersen has had some issues this season. It's even been questioned in your very knowledgable thread. My comment about 'others' I thought would cover the high picks you guys have had but if you didn't read it that way - that's the way it was meant.

It's good to see you admit there's another good team in the NHL other than the Leaves in Winnipeg. They aren't the centre of the universe (unlike Toronto I'm told), In fact some may say they are right in the edge of it. I didn't see them tank like the Leaves did, but I see a world where they get closer to a cup in the next couple of years than you guys especially if Laine keeps getting better.

Edit: looking at 'Freddy' stats, I wouldn't be so confident either.......

Well you did start by chastising others then seemed to block on winning a game against us followed by the 5-2 comment. Maybe it was just the adrenaline rush from beating the champs.

Ya...nothing has ever been simultaneously as annoying and gratifying as reading his blogs during that series and for 3 months after.

Yes it certainly had the analytics community up in arms. Unexplained or unformulated 'data' = luck! Simple.

Look at the bottom four dwellers of the eastern conference. All Atlantic teams and add to that the Panthers played like crap until the new year. Bolts, Bruins and Leafs have been feasting on those teams all year.

He's still clickin at over a PPG, with 34 points in his last 30. It'll be close but I think Malkin can win it. That'll be sick if Geno wins the Rocket and the Art Ross.

Probably could snag the Hart too if he accomplishes that.

Inter division games only amount to 34% of the schedule for eastern conference teams.

TBL plays everyone in the ATL 4 times

PIT plays everyone in the ATL 3 times

and vice versa for the METRO

So thats an extra 7 games vs everyone in the weakest division in the NHL. Possible 14 points. But lets remove playing those other two power teams in that division...so its a possible 10 points.

My guess is that Laine wins the rocket with a decent margin of separation from Malkin and Ovechkin and Geno wins a tight Ross race against Kuch.

I really, really want Geno to win the Rocket though because he doesn’t have one of those.

Yeah, I usually dont care all that much about the individual awards much but it would be cool for Geno to win something he hasn't before. Have two players on the same team ever won that in consecutive years?

No but Kurri and Gretzky were the goal scoring leaders back to back in the 80s
