not sure I follow the whole "Zacha was playing so well" sentiment. In the last 7 full games he played, not including the game he left with injury.. 0 points, and the team went 2-5, averaging about 2 hits/game, just over 1 shot/game, and 1 blocked shot. "Oh, it's a team game and he didn't do good cuz of the players around him". Well he's one of the players on the team.. and you can either make your team better or worse or just be another guy. He was just another guy to me. Before those 7 games he had back to back games with a goal in each, then 4 more pointless games. He does his thing out there, but he's not creating much, not blocking much, not hitting much.. just another guy.

Playing well and being productive aren’t always the same. Zacha has looked better lately then for most of the season. His production remains underwhelming. But you’re right in that at then of the day you need to put up numbers... I think everyone’s just happy he doesn’t look like a bust.

Sorry what I meant to say is that Nashville are Ok, but there not playing that well, not really, it just looks that way with them being 10-0 and scoring lots of goals and not conceding so many.

The problem with Zacha is that he will have a few games where he plays acceptable but puts up no points and all of a sudden everyone starts praising him saying "it's nice to see he is fulfilling his potential, he's becoming the top six centre we all hoped he would be".
Effectively Zacha gets praised when he puts in effort, but hears the thing, HE SUPPOSED TO PUT IN EFFORT, and if you criticize Zacha then everyone says, he's going to come good it's just going to take time.
And for the record to all the Zacha fans on here, even if 3 years from now Zacha has a 50 to 60 point season it will not prove him a success.

The Devils drafted Zacha to have him eventually play to the mold of Getzlaf... he's worked on his physical game big time, and though his offense is stagnant, he's far more of a presence on the ice. When his physical game is developed and he can play with some attrition, perhaps he takes a step up offensively.

He took a huge step up defensively, and though underwhelming in the offense category, if you watch him play, he's one of few guys that actually keeps the puck in the other team's end for a few shifts in the game. Pretty much, now he's playing more of an "NHL" game. I think this is what coaches look for from guys on the roster... gives them something to work with.

He’s 20. Almost 21, but still he’s young and you have to give guys time to develop. I think a 50-60 pt season will mean he’s a success. Maybe still disappointing for where we drafted him but that’s the nature of the business.

My opinion is he’s shown flashes of impressive play and I’m not writing him off. We’ll see what happens.

that isn't disappointing based on where he was drafted. Having your 1st round draft pick becoming a top 6 forward means it was a success. I think people need to understand that first round pick doesn't automatically convert to franchise player.

Agreed. It's not Zacha's fault that our team is awful at drafting and took him over Provorov and Barzal.

to be fair the defense doesn't look much better in front of him either though.

Yeah, I meant kk was struggling in the first. The D in the second is getting a beat down.

What about that play made the ref think he tripped him? I can't fathom.
