....hmm I feel we r a half decade past the MAF was bad for a while discussion. Do we really need to find yet another reason to bring that up. He was great..helped us win cups...he was bad cost us cups...this can be said about a lot of players the pens employed from then to now. Enough of the personal negative trash. Move on RW. It's 2018 and this team is poised to defend b2b championships. Let's have some more positivity.

That -35 is actually a pretty good example of why is a bad stat imo.

He scored 51 goals that year.... 24 on the pp and 27 even strength.

To be 0 he'd have been on the ice for 27 goals against at even strength..... he was actually on the ice for 62 even strength goals against in 78 games. Assuming 20 minutes a night he's on the ice for almost 3 goals against per 60 or 1 goal per period every period for the entire season.....

That's not good.... to me it shows being able to pad stats on the pp and being mediocre at even strength.

Are we gonna sit here and argue that Ovechkin is a PP specialist that's mediocre at ES? Cus that's nuts.

The Caps just flat out sucked that season and teams were scoring on them at will. Hence Ovechkin's gaudy minus stat. Nick Backstrom, one of the best 2 way centers of the past decade was also a minus 20.

If anything this helps prove the case that +/- is near meaningless for individuals and is more of a multiple of your TOI and how good/bad your team as a whole is. If you have a gaudy minus and you're on a good team, you probably suck. If you have a gaudy plus and are on a poop team, you're probably good. But beyond that, its tough to gleam anything about individuals from +/-.

Oleksiak seems to be regressing a bit. He's not been as physical as his first couple weeks here.

Really hope Hagelin didnt hurt his knee.

- YouMeAndDupuis9

Oleksiak was also out of position a lot his first few weeks here.

If you factor in his defensive near non existence... Ovi is closer to average on 5v5 than great at 5v.

He has been less physical. Perhaps the coaches are trying to shape his game differently. He needs to find a balance if that's the case.

I read the link someone posted here when we first got Oleksi, 1 thing it said was that the Stars were frustrated by his inconsistency. That's why he couldn't hold his place as they have many admen ready to go.

How's everyone feeling about this one tonight?

I'd feel better if they were at home. Hoping they play a more simple road game and tighten up a bit.

Bye bye Rust.

Of course they had to let a blatant penalty go on the Pens and they can't do anything about this.

This has been such a problem since the deadline. The Pens pass up so many shots.

Best pp in the league...teams literally stack players in the house...a lot.of shots into that are easy clears for the pk
