There's literally no goalie.
You also realize that players who play 18+ minutes have a higher probability of being on the ice for more goals against than a player who plays 7 minutes a night, right?
When you play in more situations you will be on the ice for more goals. Simple probability.
Also, let's say Sid takes a shift with Rowney, Kuhnhackl, Hunwick and whatever other dman is there in a defensive zone draw. You're gonna tell me if Sid is on the ice with those bums and let's up a goal it shows a an issue with Sid defensively?
Or if Malkin is on the ice when any other linemate turns the puck over leading to a breakaway goal, that should somehow reflect on Malkin?
Yeah, no thanks. I have my issues with advanced stats, but I'll talk most of them over +/- - Rinosaur
Has all the flaws of Corsi with a much smaller sample size that hampers the probability of equalization. You’re better off just not looking at any stats besides raw production than looking at +/- |

Did anybody hear of the Pens doing a paper move on DeSmith like they did with ZAR? It would make sense since he'd probably be the playoff goalie for WBS but I never heard it though ZAR came out a day later. That would take us down to one non-emergency recall. |

Remember that conversation yesterday about how teams should put their best shutdown guys against Malkin instead of Sid? Well, Flyers tried it, it didn't work. - Tojo.
I saw that. They always put Couturier against Malkin though.
It's nice to see. I think it helps his wingers more than him but still. It'd be interesting to see where Sid and Geno's point totals would be if it was always Sid facing the 2C and 2nd pair. |

It would be. It's extremely rare for a player of Malkin's caliber to draw the 2nd match-ups like he has his whole career. |

Over the course of a season QoC doesn't really vary much so any difference would probably be negligible. |

I dont know that theres really that big of drop off from 2nd line/2 pairings on a lot of teams...and its not like its ALWAYS the 1st line and 1st pairing playing Crosby, especially when he's at home... |

Not sure I understand. Do you mean vary on a line to line basis? |

Always is pretty much an impossibility but I get what you're saying. He still does draw 1st line and 1st pairing more than Geno. I think it's Sully's choice as much as it is the oppositions.
It's just funny I brought it up and we saw the outcome last night.
Is Filppula's line the 3rd or 2nd on Philly?
From their blog
"Crosby's line ate absolutely ate alive the trio of the Valtteri Filppula, Jordan Weal and the returning Wayne Simmonds." |

Haha I was hoping Simmonds would have rust after long layoff....he did. He can make a big difference on the ice any given night. Would absolutely love him as a Pen. |

This will probably be one heck of a first round matchup. |
