Season is over.
Time to shut Smith down and go with the rookies and get as much info to lay the ground work for trades.
One goalie and Bennett could land you something decent.
Very shocked they did not do anything of substance at the deadline - same as Dallas, Islanders - Revised12
Yeah but it's still open season on your mom. |

So according to Friedman ( https://twitter.com/Oiler...status/971191271510368257 ):
Klefbom might be on the block - just to stir some things up around here, would anyone do Brods for Klef straight across?
Probably asking the wrong crowd with all the Brods hate around here lately |

In a way I'm glad we don't have a 1st so there isn't constant talking of tanking. At least now we can hope the players don't have a reason to give up |

Stone just disappears in this scenario? - fry
you would rather have stone in there than any of these guys? The upgrade on skill would be ridiculous. Im sure Tre will sign kulak for minimum and if Valimaki doesnt look ready then you have Kulak as insurance. If Valimaki pans out then you could trade kulak.
Then you have Kylington who covers the left side if someone goes down and fox to cover the right if someone goes down.
The depth of our D would be what most teams dream of. |

Yeah. The depth on D looks good pending all the young guys pan out. I think Andersson is going to for sure, but the rest are a toss up. Valimaki has the tools, Kylington is probably closer than some think, Fox is the guy I’m most interested in. The kid could be great. |

Feels like an even trade? I know most Oiler fans think he's their current/future #1, which I don't really see, but he did have a better all around year last year at almost .5 ppg pace.
I don't think they have a true #1 in the system, meaning they will also burn their first rounder on a scoring forward. Again.
More likely a Dman goes out the door for a winger IMO

No don't think so either - Darnell looks good but I'd say he's got a top-4 ceiling. If they somehow (again) get 1st overall and use it on Svechnikov, might as well just sell the franchise.
It'd be tough to see Brods making plays for the other side... I still feel like he'll turn it around next year but if they're offering, I'd be listening |

We just signed Stone as a UFA. We're not burying him. That's not how the organization treats UFA's that sign for more than one season. He's not even an issue this year.
Todd just can't wrap his head around the concept of a shutdown defenseman having any contribution to a winning team based on opportunity differential. Of course I'd rather have a competent, experienced, former #3 defenseman as our #5.
And Valimaki is still a year or two behind guys that have actually put their time in. He's not making the team next year. For all the numbers he's putting up, he still made lots of mistakes last Dub game I went out of my way to watch him play in. A year in the AHL is definitely needed. Hell, Rass looked incredible in his final CHL year and even he is nearing the end of year 2 in the AHL. |

Agreed on Fox. He makes me nervous though, a guy going to harvard may value school and take the last year to finish and then pick where he wants to go.
He could be done his season In The next couple days so the watch will be on. Hopefully he has some loyalty to the team who drafted him.

There's not really much to be loyal for. He's a college player so the Flames have to be pretty hands off with his development. He's could also pick to go wherever he wants after this season.

Well, he could feel loyal to the team that signed him as well. Like most players are. He could want to come learn from a guy like Gio, and play in a crazy hockey market.}
Thing is we don't know. What we do know is that you are a glass half empty sort of fella.

I'm sure he will be loyal to the team that signs him. That's not the Flames yet.
He's going to sign wherever he thinks he'll get the best opportunity. Hopefully, that's with the Flames, but there are multiple reasons why he'd consider going somewhere else. |

Not sure what you’re talking about. Fox would have to stay in school for his full 4 years if he wished to sign with a different team that drafted him. He’s in year 2.
Saying that though, why wouldn’t a guy stay his entire 4 years when going to Harvard? But if he wishes to start his hockey career this year, it’s Calgary or nothing. |

He's already 20 so he becomes a free agent 30 days after he decides to leave school. The biggest advantage the Flames have is if he decides he's done with college, the year can give him a contract before the season ends and burn a year of his elc. |
