Wayne Simmonds to the Islanders for three first round picks and the remainder of Rick DiPietro's deal, so the Islanders have a salary dump.

And we actually play Rick DiPietro

Would have been nice if they showed some fight during the game.

Yeah man! Let's make the Flyers smaller and faster and more discipline! Yeah man, that's awesome hockey! Let's change the culture now and win in ten years! That's the blue print!

At least he has some compete, if some of our skilled guys competed as hard as an undrafted low paid player we would win a few more games, watching Weal at almost two million a year is almost as bad as watching Weise out there.

I wanted that game, more because of fear of an impending collapse than to jump ahead of the Penguins. Keep that team away from the Flyers for now. They have the Flyers number right now. Take my chances with the Caps.

I dunno..I feel like Morin and Myers have to actually play more than 10 games in the NHL before I can say that..

I have no issue with Hagg as one of our top 6 dmen.

- opeth_pa

They have provy and ghost, they bring O n D, after that nothing special, even Gudas with his so called hitting is not much. Mornin has that big size, that is something added to the game and the D. Agree he needs to play games

The problem is, we don't have these types of players anymore. Seriously, we don't. Simmonds is our toughest player. Gudas can fight but he's been OK. Manning tries and gets thrown around.

Guys, it's Weal fault this team didn't win. Not the 3 AHL defensemen and washed up 3rd line center being matched against Crosby all night

I hope so. I’ve been saying that after each of the last four.

Someone needs to inform them that not everything has to be a streak lol. Just because you win several in a row doesn’t mean you have to lose several.

Pens have finally gotten over their Stanley Cup hangover. They look to finish 1st in the Metropolitan. If the Flyers can stay in either 2nd or 3rd place they'll match up against the Capitals in the 1st round which I'd prefer. New Jersey, Florida and Columbus pushing hard. If the Pens/Flyers are a 1st round matchup I don't think the Flyers win a game.

I still feel like the Flyers could have done a little something to add some top 9 depth at the trade deadline. Getting Mrazek was a necessity and Oduya was a gift.

The Flyers bottom 6 have obviously missed Simmonds but they lack more than that. Weal and Raffl have really quieted down after having decent January's. I don't think Laughton sees enough ice time to get his game going. He has shown some real nice signs this season but has been ineffective as of late.

Lindblom has looked great but man is that kid snake-bitten. It's kind of wild that Konecny is one of the biggest difference-makers game in game out.

I get you’re pissed off, but do you really think the problem is that the flyers don’t have enough tough guys?

Might be the only thing good he did all night. He needs a game in the press box. He’s been bad for about a month.

It's pretty evident that Hextall is letting his top defenseman prospects mature in the A before dropping them into the fire. Sanheim has all of the tools to be a top pairing defenseman in the NHL; size, speed, hands and vision. His defensive game needs some work still and he's been working that through in the AHL. He was basically a rover in the O. We all saw how lost he was up with the Flyers. I didn't exactly agree with Hakstal's usage of him or his partners. It's also a real shame about Morin this year. I think a healthy Morin with some NHL games under his belt will grow into a real reliable player and help get the Flyers PK out of the basement. Be nice to have some real size and snarl around the net as well. Also the kid can skate. Gudas and Manning are tough no doubt but they're both on the smaller end of the spectrum.

you really think the pens won tonight because of being stereotypically "tough"? the reeves experiment didnt last the year

Yeah well as we saw with Carolina and Florida - a lot of teams are starting to see how to counter the Flyers attack. Flyers I think are 2nd in the league with goals from their backend. Cycling down low and having our defense pinch in and keep the play alive for a scoring chance quickly turns into an odd-man rush the other way with a deflected/errant pass or bouncing puck. A bit more mobility on the back end and less east-west pucks helps negate that.

I think overall the Flyers need to shoot the puck more and drive the net. Do what Crosby did tonight. Low hard shot/pass off of the pads and let the driving forwards pop the rebounds.

I think Hexy would much rather have Sanheim playing in the nhl. Hakstol chose not to play him and gave Hexy no option other than sending him down.

I also don’t understand why Hägg gets talked about like he’s a solid NHLer when he’s been anything but

Some others tonight were saying Mrazek wasn’t at fault for the goals generally. After seeing the highlights, I’d agree, but taking their current slump into consideration, Mrazek is going to have to come up with some big saves when called upon. That 3rd goal was a back breaker. I’m already looking at the calendar for when Elliot returns.
