You have it wrong.

Everything that happens after game 70 is only based on luck. Everything that happens before game 70 is based on how good your hockey team is.

We still have 8 games of seeing whether or not the Leafs are good, and then 12 games of seeing whether or not the Leafs are lucky.

Dangit.. I have no luck.

I was pointing out why he had worse playoff numbers, so you don't have to use that stat anymore cause there was a reason other than the 2000 shots.
It's a stupid arguemwnt, he likely would have the same numbers if he played 6 different teams.

- bobbyisno1

3 OT loses. in the reg season, those games could very well have gone to shootouts and not ended with an extra goal against skewing his numbers over 6 games.

How many teams win the Stanley Cup every year? Is it possible for a goalie who faces less than 2000 shots against to struggle in the playoffs?
- PatC80

In our dimension or another dimension?

Assuming that there are a number of dimensions approaching infinity that all branch off into additional dimensions with each decision or random occurrence, the answer is all of the teams win a stanley cup every year... statistically

At first I thought that Tanner had simply become confused when writing his blog.

But after further reflection, maybe this is what he actually meant.

It certainly is consistent with his previous assertions that the Capitals were simply unlucky to perennially lose in the playoffs.

Remember - the playoffs occur after 70 games.

Could be.
Andersen is better this year.
Our D...although not great....is better this year. Hainsey could be a stud in the playoffs.
Our forward group is also better this year.

The team is better overall. No reason that cant correlate to better results. Like we're seeing in the standings now.

I understand the point you are trying to make...but you are not including the fact that the team could shut things down a little bit more in the playoffs or maybe Andersen simply plays better when facing more shots.

- Fakepartofme

Wouldn't say this team is that much better than last year. The Leafs sucked in the shootout last year and dropped a lot of points. This year, they're really good in the shootout. That alone has made a significant difference in points.

The defense still gives up too many shots and chances, the Leafs have won more games while being outshot than any other team (maybe tied with Colorado actually) and are below average in possession numbers. They're really not that much better, if at all.

i think there might be something to that. babcock's system does allow a lot of shots, but mainly from certain areas?

idk, just thinking about how he sucks at the beginning of the year when we play run and gun.

where's senstroll with a heat map of shots when you need him...

Consistently inconsistent is the way to play.. You know, from game 71 and onwards.

Well they have two of the best teams in their division and on pace for the most points ever in a regular season.
They are a fair bit better than last year.
but yes......we know defensively....they arent the best.....but not the worst.

Nope... it's a Cherokee North Edition... very nice little rig... excellent on fuel...

The RAM was spectacular on fuel for about a month... then you know, cam, intake, CAI, headers, exhaust, custom tune, tranny tuning, 6 inch lift, 36" tires... it got a bit worse... but what a machine!

I dont have time now to get involved in the nonsense.

I will say I am skeptical that UG stats are as meaningful as he is making them out to be.

It's entirely possible that the Leafs will face the Bruins and lose Game 7 in triple overtime.. Because Andersen will be tired and Rask get tired? Naww... Andersen is 28 years old.. Rask is 30.. The younger you are, the more tired you get... So, advantage Bruins.

The Leafs have a light schedule down the stretch. Andersen will be fine. Matthews will come back rested. Boston will be worn out. Go Leafs Go.
