if you think drafting Nylander is bad, imagine being Florida, drafting Lawson Crouse.

I never understood at any point in time what made him a first round draft pick.

If Chicago starts selling off their prospects from Rockford we'd never lose control of the puck

Not sure you can really pull that out of there. It's well known that many players, all the players at some point, were not on the same page as where they should have been. Is Kane guilty at times? Sure. So were most of the rest of the guys.

True, it's a reach. Just thought that the things Evan was talking on as negatives of the past were things that Evander was guilty of...leaving early, no defensive effort or ability to play a system.

I'm probably reaching too much, but that's what I took out of it initially right or wrong.

and completely not what he looks like in San Jose currently. Lets see if that changes before the year is over. I don't know that I ever felt he was leaving early before he was traded.

😉 It was part of the ingenious plan devised to eventually rid themselves of Dave Bolland's contract. 😂
Not many in FL understood that pick, either. I think they had their sights set on Rantanen (they do love their Finns). When the Avs took him one pick before their's they were like, ah (frank)...well, guess we'll just take this Crouse guy.
Hindsight being 20/20 and all, but what a terrible choice that was.

There were a few times I'd seen him circling back at the red line because the pass never got there. He certainly wasn't doing a lot of lifting in our end.

Kane simply needs to be with the right players to max his talents. That wasn't the case here. Let's all watch how he does in San Jose the rest of this year which should test my theory.

I'd say the same thing about Sam.

Still cant believe we were even in that game against tampa with this kind of lineup.

He was highly ranked prior to the draft, and I never understood that either. He has NHL size and strength and skating I suppose, but the offensive talent is and always has been absent for a 1st round pick. Pick him in the third, fourth round, develop him as an extremely high quality third line player. Flummoxed.

What a waste of a 1st just to get rid of that awesome Bolland contract. Mission Accomplished!

They played Ted Nolan hockey.

Sit back and wait for your chance. (Because we have no offensive talent, again)

And that's the problem. Kane is a passenger, as sbroads puts it, and a soon to be expensive one. This team has too many of them already.

That is only partially true, at best, of that game.

They were all over Tampa at many points during the game, to the point of making the Hedman - Stralman look very bad (Rodrigues was a monster in the game).

The game was clearly an anomaly, but that doesn't diminish how they played as they were the better team.
