Forgot about McCabe, but the rest of your list is 1st round picks. I was saying we're not developing out picks outside of the 1st round as well as the rest of the league. It's a problem that needs to be addressed.

point taken, and totally agree...then again, when you look at the drafts prior to 2012, doesn't seem like there was much to develop

And then we have the bottom 6.

Girgensons
Rodrigues
Pominville, because we have to.
Wilson?
Baptiste?

How in the ever living (frank) did this team turn back into this.

And that's not even mentioning the (frank)ing poopty play-doh we call a defense.

- TheSabresTaco

To me, Rodrigues and Baptiste are keepers as 2/3 of a competent and quality 4th line of the future.

Girgensons-O'Reilly-Reinhart
Wilson-Rodrigues-Pominville
Pouliot-Larsson-Baptiste
Nolan-Josefson-Griffith

Scandella-Ristolainen
Antipin-Nelson
Beaulieu-Falk
Gorges

Sweet Mary and Joseph.

It's like we have two AHL rosters

I fear Reinhart is only showing up because there's a contract on the line. He'll get signed and then go back to being invisible.

The organization drafted safe for way too long. More interested in finding the foligno's of the world than high risk/high reward picks.

I couldn't tell you off hand if the dallas stars are a good drafting team. all i know is they found klingberg and benn in the 5th round, and that's all anyone will remember.

So outside (the top) of the first round, we've developed, and currently have on the Sabres:

McCabe - top 4, maybe.
Baptiste - Depth scoring, maybe.

(frank) you, Sabres. (frank). You.

Lightning:
Kucherov
Killorn
Point
Erne
Paquette
Palat

Those are just the draft-develop players that are on the roster. That leaves out the slick trades and smart FA signings.

(frank) this team. (frank) them so.. so much.

i'd almost put Nylander in that category...his shortcomings away from the puck were well documented but he was said to have the most skill of anyone in that draft

Im mostly talking round 2-7 but yea, he made one high risk pick then covered his risk by moving up to selecte hard nosed two way forward girgensons and incredibly typical college bound d-man jake mccabe.

And let's not forget about all the great first round draft picks we made, since 2010, which is a (frank)ing gift compared to the 2000's.

Joel Armia, Selke finalist
Mark Pysyk, God of Fancy Stats
Mikhail Girgorenko, Busterenko
Zemgus Girgensons, 11 "Latvian Locomotive" Points
Rasmus Ristolainen, Finally, a hit that plays way too (frank)ing much in the wrong situations
Nikita Zadorov, Ok at best
Sam Reinhart, good time to start trying is after the new year
Jack Eichel, took real (frank)ing brains to pick this one
Alex Nylander, the guy taken before Mikhail Sergachev. (frank) YOU MURRAY
Casey Mittelstadt, hey look, hope!

Question: Sabres win the draft lottery, should they consider a trade for #2 overall and next years 1st (from other team) as well as one of their RFA players that can help right away?

I know we need a top D man, but if you can get another top player and a top 9 forward or top 4 young D man too (and maybe a 1st in 2019) do you consider that move? I do, not sure which way I go though.

sergachev is goal-less in his last 29 games and can't play defense

Compher?

not that we kept him, but i believe he was supposed to be high skilled but considered too small and somethign else was wrong with him too i thought.

or was that Cat?
