If we traded for McD, I'd think Maatta or Dumo would be going the other way. That being said, I'll take Yohe and Mackey over My peeps for accuracy.

we need more than that for mcdavid

Would have liked to see what Kane would have looked like on Crosby's wing. Right now unless it’s a blockbuster like McDonagh then I’d like to see them get Kassian for the 4th line. Big, mean can skate good hands and was a monster in last years playoffs.

Sounds like no extension for Kane. Rental only.

He's basically a much better Ryan Reaves. I'd be fine with the acquisition. Wouldn't want to spend too much, though.

Cool. Was to the point where I didn't really want to trade any significant assets for rental Kane ever since we turned out season around, but would still like the option of pursuing him this offseason.

I don’t see how he can be that much he’s a third line winger. 3rd or 4th and a low end prospect probably would get it done.

It's interesting. He's better than Nash, but potentially brought a lot less. It's his reputation which will likely follow him to his next contract.

Josh Yohe says the Penguins are not in on McDonagh.

So basically the Penguins are and are not in on McDonagh.

Kane to the Sharks yo. Hopefully won't have to worry about him in the playoffs unless its another Sharks Cup tilt.

Should bring cost down. I don't buy into reputations as much as others do. Do I think there's something to it? Absolutely. There's too much smoke. But I question how much of an issue it actually is and how much of it is just the culture of hockey being allergic to people who aren't angels. It seems like there are only significant issues with guys like this when teams are bad. When teams are good, as the Penguins are, you never hear a bad word about the James Neals of the world unless a ref writes an oped. I think he'd be fine here.

Next years first for a rental...even though everything else was insignificant, yeah probably too steep a price for the Pens. (and it would have been more to get salary retention). Was only really going to work with a Sheary based trade.

That said, if Pacioretty is anywhere in that same ballpark, I hope JR pulls the trigger and pulls it fast.

Already low on defenseman after Cole leaves, don't think they want to send anymore out when they have forwards to trade with.

If EK actually gets moved, i hope its to the Golden Knights. That would be awesome, plus they have the cap space/assets to get him.

If SJ re-signs Kane, it's a 2019 1st rd pick; if not - it's a 2019 2nd rd pick.

The Rangers would make the Pens pay a major premium to trade McDonagh within the divison and I don’t think they want a lot of roster players.

My guess is the Pens would have to move Sheary, Sprong a 1st and 2nd.

Other teams can probably offer a better package.

I don't know... There were rumors about Neal having problems with reporters more than players in the room. I've worked with plenty of assh0les in my day and they definitely can change the mood of the office. Unquestionably. The Penguins don't need to take a risk.....even if it's a minor risk. I'm glad we didn't get him.

I'm guessing this is how the interaction went:

GMJR - What are you looking to get for McDonagh?

Gorton - Nothing you guys have to offer.

GMJR - OK, just wondering

Gorton to the rest of the GMs - Rutherford just made an offer for McDonagh.
