Nah, I'm just not a big fan.
- Tojo.

That is fair but I like trading a 1st for a younger contract controlled player over a past his prime rental.

I don't think GMJR will go for another 4 millish D signed for years for the 3rd pair

Fair. But we have $3M tied up in a 13th forward right now...pick your poison.

They're fading, but still in it. Guess they're going the Rangers route since they aren't really contenders.

Jets are stacked up front.

- Tojo.

That's a slippery slope. Rangers, imo, have done really well for themselves in just flipping Nash and Grabner. However, Pens were barely in the playoff race a short while ago. If I were a GM, I would err on the side of making the playoffs and taking that revenue.

Just read on DK that Brassard is still in TO waiting for the immigration paperwork to be completed. They're hoping for tomorrow, but it's the federal govt so.... Probably next Tuesday.

Yeah, the Blues definitely must have something else lined up. I think this is going to be the first really exciting deadline in years. Tons of players still expected to be moved.

Will be interesting to see if Karlsson goes. Sounds like he is at the point where he wants out. I might be crazy, but I honestly think there is a play the Pens could make for Karlsson. It would probably start with Schultz and Sheary or Sprong and next years first. To be legitimately stacked and go for it the next two years it might be worth it.

- MacPatty

It'll be a fun finish for sure. They are gonna come flying in.

On EK65, I don't think we have nearly what he will go for. Think all it will take is Stevie Y saying yes to including Sergachev or Point. I think they'll want the 2018 1st too which we, obviously, no longer have.

Can someone explain this to me... like... he was pretty recently with the Rangers... shouldn't something like that be able to expedite the process or even still exist so its not needed? I get the latter is obviously not the case... but wtf...

I think it's more along the line of the trade happened late Friday night, and most government offices are closed on the weekends, so I'm guessing it gets done today, and he's here tomorrow.

I don't understand it either. Other than the facts that he's Canadian working for a Canadian employer. He must need a different kind of visa to work for an American employer. I find it strange because he has traveled all over the US already while he was working. The only difference is the employer.

I also have registration on my car but when I have to renew, that doesn't mean I don't have to go through the same process as applying for new registration and sit in a line with everyone else waiting for a gov minion to get back from lunch to process my papers.

If you go to say China for a business meeting you don't need a visa you just need a passport. Now if you were to work for a US company in China I believe you'd need a visa to do that.

Correct, I am a recruiter so I deal with this often. If you are not a citizen of the US you need a work visa to work here. Now there are different visa's and some are either to obtain than others.

Sure, I'd agree with that. I just think Hartman got pumped up because of where he plays and the Preds have a lot of guys like that already.

The Stastny deal is madness. I’m always shocked when a team still technically in the playoff hunt throws in the towel like that because of the business side of the game and playoff revenue lost.

The Peg and the Preds look hella stacked right now. I don’t think there’s a very good chance that Vegas will continue their magic through the playoffs at this point, even though I wanted them to.

Not 13th in talent but 13th in fit. Sheary doesnt really fit anywhere outside of the top 6 and he's not playing well enough to stay there. So, a guy like Rowney will get a jersey over him because of faceoffs and PK.

I kind of expected more activity today. Seems like a lot moves will go down to the wire.

The bigger names like McD and EK would seem like draft day moves.

My hope for today is that we find a way to make a hockey trade around Sheary for Pacioretty. Don’t know how to do that without this year’s first, but the Montreal GM is awful.

I don’t think that’s true. Given that our fourth line has guys like Sheahan, Simon, and ZAR on it, I think Sheary can be pretty damn good on the fourth line with some combination of them.

That being said, he’s fallen down the depth chart for sure. I think at this point Rust has grown into a better hockey player; Kessel, Guentzel, and Hornqvist were always ahead of him to begin with; Hagelin’s revival has put him ahead; and Simon has seriously challenged him for his role. Add in that ZAR is a full time NHLer now and has displayed the ability to play up the lineup in a small sample size and I think Sheary is prettt traceable.

That doesn’t mean that we need to trade Sheary. Just if something comes up and we can send him out for a legit top line winger to play with Crosby for at least two seasons, you do it.

Has d-man Mike Reilly of Minnesota been discussed as possible trade target for us? He could possibly be a decent bottom pairing and has a cheap contract...$836k if I’m not mistaken.
