Well, don't forget the prospect (Dan O'Reagan) and conditional 4th as well. - chimpira
A 24 year old AHLer is not a prospect. That is actually a horrendous return for BUF |

Buff should have traded him before the deadline when there was significant interest before guys like Nash entered the market. |

I did hear that Kane's value has plummeted as of late. |

a small center who is 24 yrs old and 1 NHL goal....it may as well be J.S. Dea. negligible part of the trade, imo |

Agreed, they seem to have overplayed their hand. The return was drastically inferior to the Nash return, and Kane is def the better player. Poor job. |

Just a reminder, but I'm sure many of you know that even with the deadline 15 minutes away, trades can still be announced afterwards. |

Attitude and history doesn't help his case. But really he also isn't that great. Not really a play driver. Just a high volume shooter. |

Nash is definitely better than Kane. Not really close imo. |

Not sure Kane is definitely the best player here. Kane's younger and the more attractive resign, but since both are UFAs and likely to test the market, I don't think that matters much. |

I'm guessing this is how the interaction went:
GMJR - What are you looking to get for McDonagh?
Gorton - Nothing you guys have to offer.
GMJR - OK, just wondering
Gorton to the rest of the GMs - Rutherford just made an offer for McDonagh. - cap1681
Funny and probably true.
I guess I'm the only one that thinks he's a bit over-rated. I thought he was real good a couple of years ago, but I think he's on his way down to a degree. I wouldn't trade my top prospect for him. |

I'd take Benn, he's an upgrade on Hunwick (obviously) |

TBF, if I was GM, I would ship out everything that isn't on the roster for Erik Karlsson and go for the 4 straight Stanley Cup dynasty. Nothing matters after that, the team could move to Whichita who cares. |

I don't know man. He's had some pretty damn good relative numbers on some pretty poop teams. Nash's Rangers teams have always been solid to good.
Nash better, but I'm not sure I'd commit to saying Nash is on a different stratosphere than Kane until I see what Kane can do on an actually competent team. |

Kane has always had top notch centers so I don't know if much changes for him anywhere else. |

Jokinen was sent as part of the Vanek deal. He's still on waivers despite being traded, right? We could still claim him? |

One line teams are much easier to shut down than good teams that have skill up and down the lineup. At least in Buff, Kane has always played on one line teams. |
