I think most GMs were leery of Kane's attitude/behavior.
It wouldn't be outrageous to wonder if he has been better behaved lately mainly because of the probation deal that makes those charges go away if he behaved himself, and the fact that this is the year he's playing for his next contract. Maybe too risky for most to bring in a guy with his reputation/baggage, who could possibly disrupt your team chemistry. I wouldn't want him on my team. Buffalo will probably have a better "team" without him in the room.

We basically traded Kane for a 2nd, a 4th and a 24 year old guy for Rochester

Or a 1st and a 3rd and a Rochester guy

Either way I would have rather seen an A prospect instead but whatever

This team needs to be torn apart

I wouldn't be surprised if ROR is moved over the summer

Listening to Botterill's presser, sounds like he wanted to resign Kane but do to contracts coming in and bad contracts we have, he couldn't. He said it's a cap world.
- SABRES 89

Maybe we give him a shout in the offseason to see if his prices comes down

Paul Hamilton doesnā€™t think we will,
for whatever thatā€™s worth

We need to just start getting rid of bad contracts and players we don't need, we can add to the roster when all the trash is gone...............again for the countless amount of times.

If we arenā€™t planning on climbing up the standings over the next couple years.....
Then Iā€™ll probably get on board with trading ROR (Okposo too)

Doesnā€™t make sense keeping these guys if we are gonna ā€œrebuildā€ the next couple years

Wouldnā€™t surprise me if we see some of our ā€œgoodā€ players who have big contracts moved
Guys like Oā€™reilly & Okposo come to mind

If we arenā€™t planning on being good the next couple years...
no point in keeping them around

Kinda bummed out
Hopefully thatā€™ll change this offseason

I donā€™t doubt Homie & 89 that teamā€™s were calling
I guess at the end of the day,
they just werenā€™t interested in getting into a bidding war

I was wrong wrong wrong
Ugh

Jd, I appreciate your 'owning up', that shows excellent character!
Nice to see some people with an ability to put their pride and ego aside.
I applaud you Jd.
Took me a long time to learn to put my ego aside.
Good on you.

Who cares get rid of them all, no need to keep ROR or Okposo they way this team is going. Look what Kane brought IMO it was nothing, you're going to make deals like that screw it, dump both ROR and Okposo for whatever you can get just to get the contracts out of here.

not sure if mentioned already but another layer to the conditional first

if the sharks win the cup we get their 2019 first regardless of whether kane re-signs

What does that prove? Just because guys who had been in trouble in the past stayed in the league doesn't mean GMs aren't leery of Kane in the present. While some GMs may be willing to overlook some legal issues, but the "locker room cancer" rep is one that most hurts his perceived value more than anything.

This offseason will likely show if Botts thinks this ā€œcoreā€ can be good soon-ish,
or if heā€™s gotta ā€œtear it downā€

Should be an interesting offseason either way

I have had time to settle down now. I really was not surprised by the return for Kane. I was more disappointing in not moving anyone else. However at the end of the day it really don't matter much. There will be massive turn over this summer, Pullout, Josh G, Johnson, Josefson & Falk All UFA's, Lehner, Nolan, Wilson, Reinhart, baptiste & Antipin at RFA's...

Lehner I think will be traded. Nolan meh.... The others I am fine with keeping, that is 7 roster spots open and approx 17 million in cap space.

He's gonna tear it down, he said it countless time in his presser this team is not good enough. Fine, send them packing.

Botts said he really didnā€™t get offers for our UFAs
There was only like 12 trades today,
so it looks like no one was really able to ship out their ā€œdepthā€ players

Also,
It was probably a priority to keep Rochester together
Thatā€™s been an emphasis all season
No reason to change that now for a couple of 6th round picks

Iā€™m certainly disappointed in the Kane return...
but if thatā€™s all that was offered,
not much Botts could do
I am surprised though
