RFA's don't scare me. They are going to get new deals, if the Sabres like them, then pay them. How many over the years, besides Ryan O'Reilly, have been a serious problem in the league? They aren't going to sign offer sheets.

The implication being that if it were really bad here, they could have taken less to play elsewhere. Also, typically, that's how FA signings work, with the noticeable exception of Shattenkirk (who is probably now kicking himself).

Not everyone is willing to sign for less money. They have families, agents and the unions pressuring them to sign for the most money.

But, if it's negative 24/7, than it's the players themselves who are to blame. I haven't heard how Pegula is mistreating anyone with all the money he's showering on them.
