When the Preds win the cup, that pick will become #31, which up until Vegas came along would have been a 2nd round pick. Hartman is only 23 and is likely already a better NHL player than the Swedish giant (22 years old) will ever be. The whole team regressed this year and the coach is a joke.

I honestly don't know how the Hawks will ever replace Hartsy's 10 goals and 40 dumb penalty minutes.
Hawks got a futures deal here. They traded a bottom 6 winger with propensity for dumb penalties. The prospect is doing quite well in the Swedish elite league and the extra first gives the team another shot at another prospect or a potential to trade up in the draft.
To get a chance at Dahlin or Tkachuk (sp) I'd move Hartman in a NY minute. - kwolf68
Toews is pretty good at that... |

Hartman is an established bonafide NHL player. Draft picks are only draft picks, even first rounders. Some first rounders work out while many do not. You might only get one Kane and hopefully you only get one Kyle Beach. Somebody posted that Hartman wanted out. If that's true then the trade might turn out ok otherwise Bowman has only helped an already strong division rival get even stronger. IMO everything depends on if the player the Hawks got can turn into a serviceable NHL player. |

This is a big part of it, but nobody can say the return was junk because there's nothing to base that off. What if the first turns in to a top 6 wing or top 4 D and the big swede comes in as a solid 3C? That's a huge return. The first could also barely sniff the NHL and the swede could never make it past the AHL, we just don't know. The potential is there and the value of the return is pretty good for a struggling 3rd line player. |

It's the price of doing business. To retool on the fly you have to move players for futures. if it backfires then the Hawks lost a 40 point player. Yea not ideal, but also not like trading Phil Esposito either. |

This is absolutely right. YES, there is projection in this trade, but the overall value Stan got for this guy is a credible return. YES, it could not workout (like getting Andrew Ladd didn't), but I still say this was a good move. IF IT DOES work out like JR states above, the bounty could be huge. The likely result will probably be somewhere in between....we'll just have to wait to find out, but none of us can project any of this right now. Yes, some are bummed we traded off Hartman, gritty player, home grown, etc..., but life isn't easy when you're trying to retool/restructure the team. |

Jokiharju was a late 1st round pick and he is already the Hawks #1 prospect and may crack the NHL (at least on a tryout basis) next season. It's a good trade as far as return for what Hartman has done this year....my only gripe is that it's Nashville and makes the Hawks an even softer team. |

For all of Sharp's faults at this point of his career, he still mixes it up too. I'm not saying he's a heavy hitter (or even really good anymore), just that he does check.

Yep,Can join the Sunday morning league at Johnny’s, probably were Vinnies going to be within three seasons.
What’s the name of the team with all the big money behind them out there? The Chicago chargers? With several Ex NHL players? |

So how much does Hartman help him win now? What does he know or think he knows? He's a pretty astute guy.

Correct and possibly the worst case scenario for the Hawks.
The sooner Sikura is done, the more compelling it is to his camp to get him to Chicago playing regular season games and more importantly, burning a year off his contract. |

How about the fact it would be great to have a tenacious veteran winger to play on our fourth line? A kid who plays with everything he has? You need players like Wingels to win. He was the LAST of the problems the Hawks had.
Unless they call up Hayden, the Hawks may be the first team in NHL history to NOT be credited for a legal body check in their next game. - kwolf68
That's true , wasn't really knocking Wingles he puts in a good effort. But if he is anything but a fourth liner on your team you have problems. The HAWKS need to add a lot grit in the off season didn't have enough this year and we have let go two of the few who played that way. |

Your argument is silly. Bowman is a pretty astute NHL GM too. To say a guy is good because a GM likes him is silly. Lots of GMs like lots of players. Some bad, some good. There's a lot more at play that just "oh, they think he's good." Of course they do, that's why they gave up their first and a prospect for him. |
