Sure

But his rep of being lazy defensively, not a big game player, slow, old, etc is why Nash is worth way more.

If his production slows next year then there won’t be much interest, especially if he gets a limited NTC.

This describes both players pretty accurately

It's definitely one of his faults.

Integrity is a funny beast.
Eg does LL have any?
More ruthless for sure but NJD did invent the most boring hockey of all time. Using exHabs for coaches guaranteed that. Where are those styles of coaches now?

A shoutout to Jacque Lemaire 👋

Vanek has been traded so many times. People kind of know what they are getting already. It's not pretty.

Vrbata was & is a lazy floater.
Nash i like but disappears in the PO’s also
Nash can score maybe but not much else.
Soft game for such a big body.

- Nighthawk

Umm he is a pretty good penalty killer. Production isnt always there to meet his contract but hes far from a liability on the ice

Brandon Sutter is a pretty good Penalty killer but no one is giving up multiple picks and prospects to acquire him. Think you need to go back to the drawing board on this one...

How did it go with Hamhuis and Vrbata the year before.
- VANTEL

Vrbata was untradable as he gave a list of teams he knew would not trade. Hammer gave us a list of Dallas and they tried to low ball something like a 5th. I don't blame Benning for not rolling over for a 5th/ I wish he had it sure, but you can't look weak at the TDL either, as teams will always think you will simply roll over. It could be argued that we may not have gotten what we did for Burrows/Hansen if Benning showed weakness on Hammer.

Mtl did well with the Plekanec deal imo.

i don't like his fit for Toronto.

I like the trade for the Bruins.
Nash isn't the same player he once was but he still shows flashes of dominance and that's all it takes in the playoffs often. Boston as much as I disliked them over 2011 series have always been a team that elevate their game come playoffs and Nash might respond well.

They didn't give up much for a potential game breaker and got rid of a terrible contract. good deal for both sides.

i think it's win-win.
Feels like they gave up a lot (imo), but could be a solid add for the Bruins.
Solid trade for NYR.

Sutter also has a career high of 21 goals, Nash has only scored less than that 2 times in 15 seasons (assuming he scores 3 more in 20 games). Neither are relevant to what I was pointing out

My point was that Nash isnt a single dimension player that some feel that he is. He plays all situations, take away his contract and hes still a solid 2nd liner at age 33

Good deal in the sense they moved him but a 2nd is pretty low IMO. I think pleks is a better player than Vermette and will help the run and gun leafs.

Anyone who believes we are 3 years away from being competitive, or a few pieces away from competitive. Anyone who thinks trevor has the slightest clue into anything management related. Anyone who thinks we should keep vanek past 12:01 tomorrow. Anyone who is ok with mediocrity. Any of the above. Fair?
- Codes1087

A few pieces, that's three right?

Price magically with 50 percent salary held.
McDavid magically with 50 percent of his salary held.
Karlson resigned by Ottawa in the off-season to 10m x 8 traded magically to us with 50 percent salary held.
No roster players or prospects going back the other ways.

Bang , competitive and a cup winner in one year with just a few more pieces.

I guess I'm the only one who believes with those changes we could be competitive.

Damn drama queens.

You forgot to mention the word realistic.

Bruins down 2-0 to Buffalo. Could really use a loss tonight. Sedin's 20 minutes will get it done.

Bruins have picked up a lot of talent recently so giving up a late first and solid prospect in Lindgren won't hurt them that much.

Spooner is a tweener and Beleskey is cap dump.

In unrelated news I would bet we pick up Spooner this year as our next foundational piece.

Dan Murphy: (late afternoon yesterday) There had been no serious calls to the Canucks about defenseman Chris Tanev.

Dan Murphy: Forward Thomas Vanek is likely trade option B or C for some teams that are looking for wingers.

- manvanfan

I am good with keeping Tanev, low ball offers and we can either get more on the draft floor, or more at TDL next season if he is healthy at that time and hasn't missed significant play.

You forgot to mention a few more bounces and not being so unlucky with injuries

But I guess that's so obvious it doesn't need to be mentioned...

The only way the Guddy signing made any sense was if they were moving Tanev before next season starts.

Or they think Edler-Guddy and X-tanev can be a competitive top 4. Don't forget that our Owner, and therefor management group, always want to try and compete for Playoffs. Tanev I could see traded in the offseason, but I don't see it happening for lowball offers.

Curious, what would you like the team do over the next 24 hours and in the summer?
- Nucker101

Good question Nucker, thanks for asking.

Personally and only my opinion but I would like to see the Sedins retire 1st and foremost. The time has come even with putting up a 50 point season each.

Then I would like the team to sell off Hutton, Stecher, Edler, Goldobin, Granlund, maybe a few others for picks. These guys struggle at the NHL level and pace.

I would give Green another year to show he can compete, but so far he is doing worse than Desjardin and Torts with an arguably better lineup.

So again these are what I would like, but do I need to repeat it 75 times a day, and bash management and players.

that's a lot of turnover
I wouldn't mind seeing it, but i would be shocked if we made that many moves.

Personally, i'd like the Sedins to retire, make a couple signings, bring up a few kids, play a faster game.
